Yeah "John Titor" is Suzuha Amane in Steins;Gate. So it can run mainframe stuff though. Microcode is amazing sometimes. Awesome TV show too.

IBM 5100 in Steins;Gate: Fact or Fiction?

So, I finished watching Steins;Gate, and in there was talk of this pre-IBM PC computer, called the IBN 5100 in the TV show. The main characters used it to debug a program from SERN ( their version of CERN ) that was contructed by a mainframe from the same period as the computer. Was the IBM 5100 rea...

SOLD: SGI Personal Iris 4D/35

I have one of these big, ugly things in storage. It worked the last time I powered it up, I also have mouse/keyboard ( Granite ) and a 75ft cable for it. It has 64MB RAM, 676MB SCSI HDD, but no CD or tape drive. PROM didn't protest on bootup last time, but before I lug it out of storage, is anyone i...

Too bad its for GNU/Linux on Itanium only and not something like NetBSD which has various binary translators for Solaris, SysV, the Linux kernel and such.

Its not a full system, just a CPU module. Anyways I have a v6 graphics card I can bundle with it but you'd need the rest of the system. Shipping to Baltimore is going to be 12.95

Re: Took one for the team

Besides that, I'd get an Octane as a back up machine. I don't have a full Octane, but I have plenty of spare parts for mine and otner people. More reliable in the long run according to thebulbguy, who is by far one of the smartest chaps here. I'd PM him Classic, he has a Fuel as well and several oth...
