Sorry, initially it looked like it was missing from the unit, but it is down there after all. ;)

Re: O350

The Fuel has another time bomb in it too, if something happens to the Atmel chip(SEEPROM?), the only easy way to replace it is to get another mainboard that has it or find someone willing to sell you one that was salvaged. Since either there's no way to reprogram a new chip with a serial number or i...

I'm guessing the power supply blew and took out a bunch of stuff with it?

Re: O350

Anyone want to do some trading ? I'm sick of this worthless fucking piece of shit. It's either get rid of it or throw it out the window (10th floor, bad idea for innoccent bystanders but big pleasure for me.) Or drop it out of a B-52's bomb bay and watch it crater wherever it lands. :) I am very te...

Re: Vintage hardware buying binge and other projects

The O2 is thankfully one of the easiest SGI systems to silence (probably beaten only by the Indy with the Sony PSU, and even then the HDDs are a bit more of a faf to sort as you need adapters for the newer SCA drives). I replaced the PSU fan in my old O2 with a quiet Noctua fan and popped a really ...

Re: N64 and the O2

I have played with the settings, but have not been able to get any improvements. Maybe the O2 capture card isn't sophisticated enough to work with the N64? I notice the Octane video panel has many more options.

Re: N64 and the O2

What's weird is that when you plug it in, you do briefly see what's coming out of the N64, but then it blanks out. If you half plug the cable in(I imagine that's not very good for it), it will show up, but glitchy. Also have problems using a VCR with it, never gotten it to show up clearly or in colo...

Re: Design Decisions for the Indigo 2 and Indy

IIRC, there were people who placed really large CRT monitors on top of their pizzaboxes and cracked the case. Ever seen one of those 24" widescreen Sony FW900's? It weighs nearly 50kg. Sometimes I see machines on fleabay, with a kink in the top of the case, where the previous owners have appar...

N64 and the O2

Anyone ever tried to play N64 through the O2 capture card, I couldn't get it to work. It always glitches out.

Any suggestions?

Re: Vintage hardware buying binge and other projects

DS10s are quite nice, as is that O2 - and what luck that the plastic skins survived shipping intact! You'll read plenty of horror stories about them disintegrating during shipping... And quite the collection of software, too. These are generally regarded as quiet machines, so I expect you may just ...

Egghead Demo

Does anyone know if theres a way to force the egghead demo to run in a window, it runs but it's performance is a little sluggish and I'm sure it could run better if it was in a window.

I also recently got myself an SGI O2 R5K - 128MB. :). So welcome from a fellow owner.

Re: Vintage hardware buying binge and other projects

In the last 3 months I spent more than I should of as well on some old stuff. Alphaserver DS10 - 466MHZ, 256MB RAM, 2 9GB drives. Arrived in pristine condition, with nothing broken and only a missing power supply which was easily replaced. The secondary SCSI drive did develop some kind of electrical...
