Re: How should IRIX programs be made?

GTK 2.x is very slow on IRIX because it assumes certain Xorg extensions and is real slow if it doesn't find them. So this is why Firefox has lag issues? In that case why not port NetSurf, Origyn Web Browser or some other modern browser? Origyn is available under the BSD licence, and while its roote...

Re: How should IRIX programs be made?

Well the Motif toolkit is available for free under the LGPL. Whether or not you should use it is a matter of personal choice. IRIX has MIPSPro, which is no longer sold by SGI, but it is often available secondhand ( not here though, note the orange warning in the for sale sections ) and via other mea...

Re: Any idea on how to access Mega.co.nz from IRIX?

Unfortunately I can't use those in this case. My FreeBSD box finally broke due to overheating last night so I'm scrapping it, I just can't deal with the instability that x86 ``offers" ( It was an old Intel Core2Duo board ). So without that, I'm probably going to have to either: A ) Bypass Mega'...

Re: 80 pin SCSI drive in Indigo2 - how?

Does anyone want to make me a cable then? I'll compensate for time and shipping if they do so. I'd do it myself, but my soldering skills are atrocious and I don't want to risk shorting my I2 out.

I'm able to do international shipping but the U5/10 do indeed not support these.

What models of the Ultra are these compatible with then? I'll update my post so potential buyers know.

Re: SGI/Sun Graphics Cards for Sale

I don't know really, the slot looks similar to a GIO or ISA slot. I'm not at home so I can't take a picture now. I was just told that by looking up the P/N

Re: For Sale: SGI Fuel 600 MHz

Alright I'll have to setup ImageMagick then. I feel like a moron honestly because for the last 2-3 years I've barely used any photo manipulation.

Anyways I'll do some more pics of the Fuel later tonight.

Re: 80 pin SCSI drive in Indigo2 - how?

Umm SMJ it looks to me like there's already an UW SCSI connector at the back: why do we need the second converter. I'd like to skip that step and get a direct UW connection because KISS

80 pin SCSI drive in Indigo2 - how?

So I tried to reinstall IRIX onto Gaira as the internal 3.5" wasn't booting. Well I learned the drive had failed as I can't get to it in the command monitor. So I take the front of the Indigo2 off, yank the HDD and lo and behold its a 50-pin connecting to a 80 pin adapter. Awesome, I thought as...

Swapped: SGI Fuel 600 MHz

Since I've gotten Mima, my Octane, to a usable state my Fuel has sat unused in the corner. Therefore I'm putting her up for sale so another collector into SGI hardware will enjoy her. Specs: 600MHz R14000 MIPS CPU 2GB RAM V10 18GB U160 15k RPM SCSI drive ( Will take 3 more, willing to include a 72GB...

Re: SGI SLGR-0002 External Floppy Disk Drives

The previous owner claimed they worked, I don't have any floppies that aren't Amiga formatted and in use so I can't really test them, hence the low price. $20 for the pair is practically giving them away, but I need the space.
