well, remember.. many projects are fed up with gtk. so gtk1 projects sometimes look further isntead of going to gtk2. So does dillo for example. And yes, dillo too is going to fltk. So we better find a way to have fltk playing nice on sgi. Maybe ol'FL intergation/skinning? Fake motif look? just some...

recognition and satisfaction

I think the idea of funding might not be bad after all. I agree with most of the posts here that think that the big amount of money needed to develop REAL things with REAL developers would be unfeasible, everything would at least start in the 5K$ range for small small projects and then go up, up up....

this is a bit untrue. There is a guy called "hos" that used to regularly test and build using mipspro. The binaries released by beldner are built with mipspro. I used blender on various sgiboxen quite a bit. Lately I have little time to test and use it. Generally the X11 ports of blender suffer from...

heh, take care! nice box and, I make a small advertisment, that pico server (pserv.sf.net) can turn it into a webserver and that my experomental IRC lcient (nebula-irc.sf.net) can give you a graphical IRC client! and yes, I coded, compiled and used that on my 4d/20. With some care and hacking you co...

cpu benchmarks, compiler options and differences...

I had the idea to run these benchmarks after a discussion on the ppc mailing list of NetBSD. SO the test is specific to FPU, it calculates FFT using doubles. It accesses a dataset in arrays which should be small enough to fit in a L2 cache. The code itself is hand-optimized as far as temporaries and...

gvim (compiled for Motif of course) rocks for color syntax too. The version on SGI freeware works fine and runs with motif (although if it hasn't IndigoMagic skin[*]) as far as FTPing regards... you can use ncftp of course or Xftp, a graphical, Motif based, X client that is old, proved and that rock...

Beyond 0.4

Don't fear, my faithful users. 0.4 was released without big fanfare, but I strongly suggest to upgrade to it if you didn't. It proved stable on every system I tried. But developers are not sleeping. Well, first of all I am alone, but I am coding some nifty fixes and new stuff. to name a few: - added...

nebula 0.4 released

Hey, the (un)popular IRC client Nebula 0.4 has been released! What's new? a new, tight event handler. What does this mean? no more disconnects on busy systems or other problems. On every system I tried; If it disconnects, it is not nebula's fault :) The only IRC client that works from the 4D series ...

pico server 3.2 released

Hey all! I'm proud to announce the release 3.2 of Pico Server. Many years have passed and many bugs and it is quite stable now. It is a small, efficient and very portable webserver. Of course it runs on irix. From 4.0 up (at least, that is what I tested...) So have fun serving your homepage from a 1...

I keep tracking CVS of the unstable 2.5 branch.. at the end this is the future... I posted several bug reports, several of them have been solved even! come out developers out of your caves and give motif a kick. I continue in my parallel effort of linux/solaris/irix (all with gcc3) since this is abo...

your battery may be drained.

You could also try to remove the extra boards from the Elan and effectively "downgrading" it. You need to leave in at least one Bitplane of the 3 memory sticks.

I feared that since the day those idiots sold alias. On the other hand those idiots are so indebted they shouldn't even exist. If you look at their past balance sheet you pull out your hair. ALias was the only valuable thing they had after selling MIPS. But now, a tezro is worth even less. You see, ...
