Re: Indy badges?

The R5000 badge has a distinct curve, which in my opinion was meant to match it left of the "bug" logo. Very similar to the "Power" badge for the R8K Indigo2 paired with the elan/xz/ultra badges

Re: IRIX netinstall via DINA - getting invalid argument error.

Can you try substituting the server ip address 192.168.1.100 with it's machine name when attempting a network installation? fx only uses tftp and bootp services, but sa and miniroot have more demands, like rsh, a working ksh and a server who is identifiable by name, not by ip address, at least ...

Created docker for running an IRIX install server on your PC/laptop

Since i got tired of: a) Editing passwd files and setting kernel parameters in my current machine to get services up for remote boot and network install (and reverse the changes afterwards) b) Running a ChallengeS server with 100 mbit to act as an install server c) installing VMWare to run DINA ...i...

Re: Wanted: Octane

Ian's SGI Depot is more geared towards selling to commercial entities and thus the higher prices, because they can afford it. But he is a good person to deal with. He's from Kentucky, so shipping from Europe might be a tad expensive. But i'm sure there's an SGI enthusiast nearby who can help him out.

Re: Wanted: Octane

First of all welcome,

It would be wise to tell a bit more about yourself and where you live and what you do. Putting netBSD on an Octane would be really cool, but do you have experience in Linux/BSD Kernel workings? Or have you ran SGI systems before?

Well done necron2600.

Is the irix package built mainly for remote management of other devices over ip or can it also be used to read sensor data on SGI hardware?

Re: 030-1277-002 MXI TRAM modules on an MXE board?

Thanks for the confirmation, jeb. This means that having either a 1263 or 1277 Rev B should be sufficient for adding TRAM to an SE or SSE. 1277 Rev A confirmation is still out.
And i guess your soldering skills have improved greatly :)

Re: Current State of Nekoware / otherware

What is the current state of LLVM for Irix? And which languages does it support? C,C++, ... ADA? Carlo/Y888099/Ivelegacy, You have asked this question ad nauseam in http://forums.nekochan.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=16732200 and http://forums.nekochan.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=16732200 among othe...

Re: Indy and indigo2 emulation in MESS (WIP)

I don't have any graphics at this point. The priority is IRIX, then networking. Once I have networking working, it should be fairly straight forward to do remote-display until I figure out the graphics hardware. The Seeq8003 network interface with the GIO bus is handled by the HPC3 along with the P...

Re: Indy and indigo2 emulation in MESS (WIP)

Wow, excellent Work! This looks like it's on par with the emulation in MAME. You have confirmed my assessment of Qemu as the best platform to start this project. MAME is old school C and too dense with macros to develop fruitfully. Folkerts MIEP, another emulator, has some interesting code and a MIP...

Re: CPU Panic?

Welcome, So the diagnostics do run fine? No CPU errors? If that is the case and the machine still refuses to boot, maybe you should: - try checking the env variables in the PROM command line. - try checking the disk with fx and look for any signs of problems. - try to boot miniroot from network or a...

Re: Perl CPAN failing to install modules

Anyway install CPAN worked. My SSL module won't build probably because SSL is broken on the box. I've revisited this problem today since we have proper openssl alternatives now: Brent Canavan and i have made new packages for neko_openssl and i could successfully build Net-SSLeay-1.81 aka Net::SSLea...

Re: SGI History Part 3 is here! This episode covers from 1993 to 1996.

I suppose that I can install the motherboard and CPU my current Indigo2 then. Yes and that's pretty much it. The Power Supply is relatively interchangeable between R4K systems and R8K, see http://www.oocities.org/siliconvalley/hills/3730/indigo2_powersupply.html The rest can be swapped over from th...
