Re: Archaeological dig: old Indys from Acclaim Entertainment unearthed

Sorry, I didn't mean to suggest that the buyer would leak the code, just that he would properly preserve it and prevent it from being lost. And yes, the law does generally impose accomplice / conspiracy liability on someone who picks another person to do the dirty work, so I couldn't rightfully stri...

Re: Archaeological dig: old Indys from Acclaim Entertainment unearthed

Dreamworks is supposedly the actual IP rights holder for Turok, but neither they nor anyone else has any legal standing to subpoena me about this sale. And I'm happy to report that the buyer is someone whom I know from past transactions - a stand-up individual who is exactly the kind of person who c...

Re: Archaeological dig: old Indys from Acclaim Entertainment unearthed

It's currently over $2,000 on eBay with three days left in the bidding. That would be an awful lot to spend on a computer just to take a sledgehammer to it.

Re: A stack of Acclaim Entertainment's Indy's are about to hit ebay.

I am a little confused by all this... How could one be so concerned about the legal ramifications of releasing the contents of the machines to the public, but then turn around and profit handsomely from the commercial sale of the machine, with the contents specifically listed to boost the value of ...

Aaron, the microphone is on and I know you frequent this forum. Anything you want to say? ;) I saw what you wrote on Facepunch and have nothing to say to you except EABOD. As for everyone else, here are the portions of that Vice article that Pentium conveniently left out: It seems that at least one...

Thanks, it's not unexpected - these kinds of reactions are typical. And Dodoid, yes, I will detail the contents of each Indy to the best of my ability in the item description. The Turok source Indy will be going up in a few hours.

Re: Archaeological dig: old Indys from Acclaim Entertainment unearthed

Quite a wave of butthurt from angry geeks who are upset that I won't be openly engaging in copyright violation at great personal expense (looking at you, Pentium). As was my intention from the beginning, I'm going to post each of these Indys to eBay with their original contents intact, with 20% to c...

Re: Archaeological dig: old Indys from Acclaim Entertainment unearthed

Update: I've imaged all the hard drives and started digging through these Indys to see what's on their drives. Re: SoftImage

There's an Anthony Rossano book called "Inside Softimage 3D" that was published by New Riders in 1998 - it's probably the best introduction to Soft|3D outside of the original manuals, and it's fun to skim because it's filled with full-color illustrations. You can buy it on eBay for $5.

Re: Indigo2 MaxImpact Quake gfx glitches & performance

I played through Quake II on my Indigo2 MaxImpact and it killed one of my TRAM modules.

Tell him to go easy, those systems weren't designed for 3D gaming. If he wants to play Quake on IRIX an O2 might be a safer option.
