Thanks, sent him a pm.

Report back if he has a few.

I have an o2 r5k that I bought off ebay for $75 around Nov and though it is in near mint condition it has a 180 mhz cpu I think. So I am also looking to get at least a 300mhz proc for it.

Re: What pointless thing are you doing right now?

Yeah, KDE... blech. "Mate" is the default DE setup at work in centOS. Its alright. It isn't getting in my way since 90% of my time is 3d applications or compositing software. One thing I like is any folder browser app that get close to directory opus capability. The press f3 gives me a dua...

Battery in Octane PVO card?

Was probably going to buy this Personal Video Option card from China in the next week or so. https://www.ebay.com/itm/100-test-SGI-OCTANE-030-1156-003-PERSONAL-VIDEO-OPTION-BOARD-DHL-or-EMS-lyd/252354908352?hash=item3ac18650c0:g:zlAAAOSw2hNZt1KO Says he has two. Only thing is that he says he can't s...

Re: What pointless thing are you doing right now?

I really like centOS. I have always preferred the *.rpm based linux builds. I originally ran fedora for a while and had a very nice Maya/Vray/Mudbox/Softimage build going. In 2016 ran centOS at a place I used to work and now the current place uses centOS as well. Autdesk and most of the render engin...

Re: What pointless thing are you doing right now?

In centOS7. One monitor is Maya 2016 and the other is Nuke. Just trying to get the weekend renders prepped for showing the clients.
I am always relieved to see they finished and the render layers have no errors.

Re: California Proposition 65 Notice

The dichotomy of this situation though is that they label everything as possibly giving you cancer whilst at the same time passing laws that allow the food manufacturers to rename ingredients so that the people can't figure out they may be buying corn syrup, gluten, etc. Its like the left minded peo...

Re: My latest: SGI 330L

Nice :)

I have a copy of Maya 8.5 somewhere with the Dragon image on the case/cd and had Maya 7.0 on an old 3.4ghz pc which is not running anymore.

So it is a dual pentium 3? What like 500mhz?

Very good condition.

Re: Softimage Tutorial #1

I am so wanting to do more tutorials. I am finally going to break down and get a PVO card for the Octane as the documentation says I can capture desktop video. There are two on Ebay for $400 and I will be picking one up within a week or two and finally diving into the tutorials I've been wanting to ...

Re: your latest purchase

SGI related... Little base 180mhz R5k, 128mb ram - original CD drive even works. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/794/26111913737_9533597bab_c.jpg I bought one just like it, practically same specs, on Ebay in November for $75. It is probably the cleanest o2 I've seen on Ebay. Its in Northern CA thoug...

Isn't the r7000 cpu a candidate for the 600mhz mod?

Pretty nice o2.

Re: Tezro V12 2xR16K 800MHz 5GB

I am hoping ultimately to have a Tezro someday. Maybe a Fuel, maybe an Iris Indigo. Then I would have all the Irix machines for a nice SGI collection. I would even be happy with the "low" spec you have. ;) We had two Tezro Flame setups at Digital Domain back in 2008-2012 but I never got to...

Re: eBay: Very Clean Personal IRIS in Indiana

I'd love to see what a PI user experience is like. Though I know it probably isn't that capable overall, to see what the older Irix and software was like on it would be fun for a day or so. I've almost bought a Iris Indigo on Ebay a few times just to see what the first wave SGI experience was like. ...

Oh man, jpstewart I am sorry man. I didn't mean for that to turn into a total time stretch.

I'll just break down and buy the PVO card at the end of this month and get tuts out. Thanks for trying though.
