MANY THANKS! I have the same revision board and xbow as you, and was hoping to get a faster processor - nice to know that a 360mhz WILL work nicely... How's the speed up? :) It's a pretty nice speed up, things are definatly snappier and more responsive. Can believe I waited so long for this upgrade.

The "technical hurdle" from what I read on the racer.nl site was just that his Irix development system was an O2 workstation and that it couldn't handle the graphics anymore, so unless he was/is given a better sgi system for development, he won't have an irix binary. Though you can still get the sou...

Does the 360 require the 8gb board like the 270 or is it good to go on the ol' faithful? The 360MHz processors seem to be more plentiful and a lot less expensive than their 400MHz brethren. The 600MHz R14k is a beast, but comes at a beastly price too :( That's the big question; I can't find anythin...

The system specs you said would probaly suffice for most, if not all, basic duties. I have an Octane like the ones you're talking about( R10k 250mhz, 512MB ram, MXI graphics) and it runs like a champ. Mozilla is quick and responsive, Quake 2 runs well(though you really need TRAM for anything with te...

I had a similar problem with an Indy I was rebuilding for a friend a while ago. The monitor would come on like there was a signal and just stay black, or go into suspend mode and then act like it had a signal and then go back to suspend. The problem turned out to be that the monitor just didn't supp...

They tend to hit ebay once in a while, there were a few sets out yesterday but they all sold off rather quickly. Other than that I don't know of anyplace to even hope to get that cheaply.
