In my ever continuing persuit of having the longest running, oldest sgi system that I'm aware of....Approaching 2 years or so now. And while waiting to see it it'll cut off after 257 days again. Anyway...it seems the time keeping isn't all that good on these old systems without using a time server. ...

scsi is scsi...so long as the drive and controller are lvd/se and the drives are lvd/se they will work unless the drive is bad or the drive will not fall back to the scsi speed/interface spec that the controller supports. In an effort to help answer this problem I have obtained several ST39102LC dri...

If anyone can take the whole thing...please do. Failing that it won't be a total loss...I'm planning/hoping to get most of the internals from it. It will still be a shame to have this system go to waste.

I've been using an ST9103LC in my O2 for 3 or 4 years now. It could just be that the drives are bad. Did you 'fx' them properly and set it has a root option disk befor attempting the install? If not, that could be the problem aswell.

The one with the 64MB graphics option is also 1.5Ghz...I think. Which, it was decided, would not be the 'top of the line' rather if you ordered or purchased a 1.42Ghz machine you could get a 1.5Ghz system in the box. So the specs listed on the box and when you order are 'atleast' what is inside. It'...

Well, those sBus QFE cards work up through the range of systems with Sbus connections; such as the Ultra II systems(which have a faster sBus speed). So with a newer system you'd probably be alright with using all 4 links. You see similar things else where, the available through put of the card is mo...

Straight NFS should work just fine, simple export and import. It's generally quite fast and with little overhead. However, the QFE will probably overload the bus on the system. Also, having all the bandwidth above and beyond what that server has won't do any good, since you're still limited by the 1...

It's just the lib file and two symbolic links. Extract them to /usr/freeware/lib32 and abiword should be up and running. I have the dist files for libwmf around someplace(probably archived on tape by now) if this doesn't work.

They've never stopped doing that to my knowledge. I get samples from them all of the time. It's can be very easy to make a mistake with the sample order process if you've never done it before(atleast web order wise). For Maxim it's just about getting product out there, since they just write off the ...

If it's a 9pin dsub connector I may have a spare set of keyboard and optical mouse here. I got them with my 4d/70...just no cable to go from keyboard to system(9pin straight thru?). Right now, just sitting on a shelf in my office I think, can check tomorrow if needed.

I think I had this problem when I installed 6.5.21F on my O2. From what I remember it was a problem with shadowed passwords. I had to unselect shadow in the security section, then remove or touch the shadow file and then reselect shadow passwords option. This was quite awhile ago, but I'm pretty sur...

If you search around, my 4d/70G had a minor electrical fire shortly after I got it; plug and receptical in the system were chared and melted, as was abit of the wiring. $60 in parts and 10min later it was fixed and has been up and running from then on...something like 2 years or so.

They're both from the Vpro family, so a simple hardware swap is all that you need to do.

Thoes are probably just 256MB kits of memory. Which also doesn't seem right as that would get you 1 gig of memory. You can only have a max of 2GB on a single MC3 though; and only 1 MC3 in a deskside. Either way...something isn't working out. Check here if you haven't already: http://sgistuff.g-lener...

Sure you wouldn't consider parting it out? I'd love to take the whole thing, but unfortunatly I don't have the room with the 4d/70. Maybe I can make room...blast.
