Re: Resurrecting a Jurassic Classic Crimson

Also, it appears there are jumpers there to set 115V or 230V operation - I can't see how those are supposed to be wired, make sure they are correct for your application. No idea about that fan connector, though. It looks like it's setup for 115V operation currently, jumper would be to the left in t...

I've tried one before, under at least 6.5.19 they have issues. I'm going to do a new install on the system Wednesday probably so I can run another test with a newer version of Irix. Are you looking for mainly LTO-1?

Re: Tape hardware compatibility

Hi, I was looking to getting a decent size tape system for backups on my irix boxes. I was looking at maybe a scsi exabyte VXA-2E anyone have any success getting one of these working on irix 6.5.xx? Any thoughts or experiences appreciated. Cheers Since I have pretty much any tape drive floating aro...

Re: FS: Octane, dual 360mhz r12k, 2GB ram, V6

I'm sorry, but I will not ship to China. Head Wolf - if this is for practical reasons it's understandable (shipping an Octane here would be a total hassle) but if it's for political or religious reasons, everything you read in the US press is a pile of unadulterated garbage. I don't think I'm known...

v10/12 with a 1.3 xbow

Has any body either run, or attempted to run a v10 or v12 with a 1.3xbow in an Octane? I'd like to possibly drop a new v series graphics adapter into my octane but I'm still running a 1.3xbow. I ran a v6 with a 1.2 xbow at one point, so...

Re: Whoops, I bought an AS/400!

Congrats, that 270 is a nice box. I almost bought one on eBay a couple of months ago, but got outbid at the last moment. The big question is what version of OS/400 it is licensed for. Go to this website and enter the serial number. http://www.ibm.com/eserver/ess/ It will show you the license keys f...

Re: Whoops, I bought an AS/400!

For LPARs, if the box has the feature enabled, you need to have a HMC connected to it. Otherwise you can do it through i5/OS or OS/400 by using that as a hypervisor. Install media for i5/OS or OS/400 is available from IBM only and you're not likely to find it...it is only available via a pull from I...

Re: Tape problems in HP-UX

Never fixed it...I ended up just tracking down an HP Storageworks DAT72 and running it through a SE->HVD converter to get it working.

Tape problems in HP-UX

I have a K9000 that I've been trying to backup onto tape with little luck using various tape drives. They get picked up fine with ioscan and and the appropriate files are created in /dev/rmt but I keep getting an I/O error when I try to backup using make_tape_recovery...or tar or anything. They dont...

Re: WTB: old-style optical mousepad

that mousepad doesn't look like the right kind of pattern, I used to have an old-school optical mouse like that and it explicitly needed a grid (if you got different size squares than the mouse would probably go at a different speed ;) ) Indeed...I didn't look at the file, it does need to be a grid.

Re: WTB: old-style optical mousepad

For the printable one...I found you need to print it onto a transparency and then place that over a piece of aluminum foil or on a piece of shiny metal.

I may have a spare real one though in my office with my 4d/70, I'll let you know tomorrow.
