I have a the other boards, and want an XL to complete the collection. It would be interesting to test it against the other boards, and I have a videoboard that would go nice with an XL. There is a complete low spec I2 with XL on eBay at the moment, but shipping for a whole I2 is too expensive. /Bjo...

My location is Sweden but I don't mind some shipping cost.

Why you need the XL?

I have two XLs, by the way.

Re: how to get Silicon Graphics to Slovakia

I little problem is , that I am from a country in EUROPE called SLOVAKIA :-> There were only very few of Silicon Graphics machines in SK. But there are numerous SGI machines in the surrounding coutries (Czech Republic, Poland and so). I personally have a complete Indy (R4400SC/175) and an O2 (Rk5/2...

O2 + Linksys NSLU-2 ... works :-)

I have been using the NSLU-2 with my SGI O2 for several days. At least, it works. I use the Sharity-light (I'm still not sure if I really need the full, commercial, Sharity) to access the NSLU-2 drives. There are some issues but it generally works. I think that Linksys did some design flaws here: th...

Just received a Nokia 770 "Internet tablet" the other day. Seems like a cool gadget... I have one, too. It's a very nice *nix machine - the "vi" editor is included by default and one can also install the TeX :D It only lacks an on-board C compiler (but the Python environment can...

Re: Irix audio software

Are there useful audio processing applications for IRIX? I'm thinking of digitizing some old records. I'm not sure if the snd is what you want, but maybe it is. It has Motif and Gtk+ interfaces and it seems to be relatively powerfull. I have compiled this thing on my O2 without issues (but I have t...

What is the software running on this Indy that gives the transparent login box and menu on the right hand side??

It's a normal GDM - Gnome Display Manager. Most probably, it runs on the PC under the desk.

Hey forum: Anyone check out / own the new Sun Ultra 20? What did / do you think about it? bas I have one: the cheapest setup - 1.8GHz CPU, 512MB RAM, 80GB SATA disk, onboard graphics. It isn't bad - Opteron CPU, motherboard from Tyan etc. It is really very fast and stable (and it looks very well - ...

[quote="dc_v01" Speaking of which, does anyone no when they stopped shipping these (demos.sw.* -flight et.al. ) with IRIX? I saw a post somewhere saying they were on the 6.5 Applications CD, but my 2002 Apps CD (6.5.17) doesn't have them. [/quote] There actually are _two_ demo CDs in my 6.5.27 set. ...

Why do you start cdplayer from icon catalog ? It doesn't start automatically after CD is inserted?

Maybe you have to wait several (or more) seconds to see what will happen...

Re: Indy Questions

How bad is performance w/6.5.* with this proc - do I want an older IRIX? What is a good hard drive to get, he's keeping his to throw in another box. I have an R4400/175 Indy with 128 MB and IRIX 6.5. It seems to be OK for most tasks (gcc, TeX, text editing, browsing with Netscape etc.). But Mozilla...

I have a R10k/250 and R5k/200 O2s. And the R10k isn't much louder than the R5k one. But both are louder than my Pentium III/1000MHz PC :(
