Re: How frequently you use your SGI (in 2017)?

ssh -XC4c arcfour,blowfish-cbc -l usernamehere linuxhostnamehere "export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=\$PWD ; export LD_PRELOAD=xkb.so ; chromium-browser" Thank you very much! I never played with ssh parameters (used just "ssh -CX") so it was my fault. It's not exactly fast but on my O2 it's...

Re: How frequently you use your SGI (in 2017)?

Both Links and Dillo are pretty much useless on the modern web due to lack of Javascript (ECMAScript) support, Yes, it's a problem. There is also no CSS support in the Links. But the Firefox 3 is often not much better (try to open the flickr.com in the Firefox 3). and development of both appears to...

Re: How frequently you use your SGI (in 2017)?

Dillo development appears to have either slowed to a crawl or lurched to a halt, no new version in over two years: Is the Dillo better than the Links http://links.twibright.com/index.php ? I use the Links (in GUI mode) much more than the Forefox. The Dillo ports never worked for me for some reasons ...

Even the Tezro will not help you with WWW because the Firefox 3 is "too old" for many pages :-(

How frequently you use your SGI (in 2017)?

I am curious how often people use their SGI workstations. As many of you has more than one computer it probably makes sense to think about the most used one. For example, I use my O2 as my main home computer from 2005 (when I have got it from Ian Mapleson :D ). But I'm spending less and less time wi...

Re: A smear campaign against nekochan.net mods on reddit

I think we should just ignore him.
I tried to read the whole post on the reddit but I wasn't able to finish it. It so boring and it seems to be just a presentation of his personal (and very bizzare) view on things.

I'm not a very active member of this forum but I'm a happy and satisfied one.

Re: Your first SGI encounter

In 2001 when I started to work at the university. There still was a classroom full of Indys here (they aslo had a few Indigo 2s and a 15+ O2 but I never seen these). If I remember correctly they were the R5k machines. I have used the ANSYS.

Re: Which SGI box is your favorite and why?

My favourite SGI computer is the O2 with the R10k processor (and, of course, with the 1600SW screen). Actually, such machine is still my main home desktop (I use if for about 70% of my home computing).

But the Crimson is the best representation of the SGI, I think.

Re: Siemens Nixdorf RW 320 (Indigo R3k)

Yes, it is. There is no more space for expansion. Actually it's a very nice update: 3D stuff is much faster now. Visualization in the MeshTV were very slow withoiut the Z-buffer card and now are OK.

Fossil Wrist PDA version 2.0 - a smartwatch that runs near full version of the Palm OS 4.0. A funny thing, but very functional.

A more recent version of the CalculiX http://www.calculix.de/ would be great.

No it isn't. It's a different person with similar name.

But Bytefest is always great.
