Re: Onyx2 4xR12000 @ 400MHz, IR1, 8GB RAM, IR2E (GE16/RM9/DG5-2)

But anyway, the directory-memory is completely useless in a deskside-onyx2. Just like the IR1 router but that didn't stop him either  Ya it's not useless, it looks cool to have max directory-memory (and max main memory) on the board! It's just a hobby you know ... From what I understand there ...

Re: HEAVY IRON! - Onyx2 Reality Monster For Sale 16P-IR2-6GP

Shit that's sweet. The sad thing is that no one will pick it up for $12K and it will get parted out or abused or something and the community will have one less system like this running ... What speed are the CPUs? ...

Re: Onyx2 4xR12000 @ 400MHz, IR1, 8GB RAM, IR2E (GE16/RM9/DG5-2)

Well the new nodes are installed, see the hinv at the top of this thread. Interesting to note that directory memory doesn't show up in the hardware inventory. Is this just because I have a deskside system? I believe that I have 1GB of directory memory. Now to wait for 500MHz node boards to get cheap...

Re: Are there any technical reference manuals for Origin 2000?

I'd like the same thing for the Onyx2. There's precious little technical information out there about these systems, I have a problem with an incorrectly jumpered router but SGI customers were never supposed to mess with such things themselves! Heck, I'm not even sure the correct way to populate the ...

recondas wrote: ... 1920 x 1200 at 66 Hz ... so it should be possible with IR2E.

The limit for IR2E is still 300Mpixels/s.

So 1920 x 1200 x 66 x 2 ~ 304Mpixles/s, which is no good.

So you need to lower the refresh to 60Hz like in my example a few posts up.

Re: Onyx2 IR2E, two 1920x1200 displays, possible?

I think you can. There are several different bandwidth limitations in IR2E graphics, I'm not an expert in all of them. From what I understand the RM is limited to 300Mpixels/s total, no matter how many displays you have running, and you probably don't want to go below 60Hz refresh so: 1920x1200x60 ~...

Re: Octane2 Dual 600, SGI 540

I'd like the 600MHz CPUs and the 2GB RAM, but I've blown my budget for the month ... stupid node boards. I'll probably only get dual 600s when they're like $100 on eBay or something.

Anyone need an Onyx4?

From craigslist: http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/sys/382762466.html $5K. It's in NYC, downtown. $128K original list ... does this mean that it's a full rack? These things started pretty cheap if I remember correctly, this is either a low config full rack or a high spec short rack. I'm not the guy ...

Re: Reverse Fuel mod

The Fuel has, supposedly, an ATX MOB (not quite?) ... but you'll need to get the hacksaw out to accommodate the graphics card? The Fuel puts the graphics at the bottom of the case, it's not part of the AGP/PCI/PCI-Express card cage area ... I'm guessing your budget is small but have you considered a...

Node Boards, Router Board, System Board ...

I have 2 node boards for sale, both 2x250MHz R10000. One with 1GB RAM, the other with 2GB RAM. DOA Warranty, best offer. I have 1 IR1 router board for sale (would look great in an Onxy2 deskside!), again DOA-warranty and best offer taken. I also have the latest rev Octane2 system board. It came out ...
