Were they any relation to NeoGeo the animation studio, which Blender came out of?

It's when you overlay two or more frames so you can see how they differ, usually to see how something's moving. With layers. Like an onion.

The monitor confidence test in Irix has a couple images for convergence and focus. Just a white grid on black is fine, really. What the hell is mini BNC?? Do you mean the little coax connectors which are part of the 13W3 plug? I'd think you could find a 13W3 to normal BNC lead somewhere but I dunno.

I vaguely recall one of the O2 demos doing this. It would be easy enough to write something, sadly I don't have any machines with video-in any more :(

I'm always doing tricks with pens whilst waiting for stuff to happen, I guess it's only a matter of time before I break one :)

Guessing it's not the jumper thing, that's only fixed issues where the power supply won't turn on at all (no lights) for me in the past.

Serial console? Unlikely if the light stays orange :(

el_mariachi wrote:No need to worry about video capture/output unless you really need it. You can always just capture on a PC and transfer it over to the Octane

Yeah but dude you have any idea how LONG that takes? Think 1 frame per second. Using a deck and realtime IO is really want you want.

Put stuff in ~/.sgisession to open it on startup. Or if it's something simple you could use the graphical save session thingy in the Windows control panel.

I pull disks from my Octane all the time, it's fine as long as you use scsiadminswap to quiesce the bus first. I don't think the O2's controllers support quiescing though, so I'd tread very carefully there.

Duals help a lot, like they'll double the overall speed. You need a DM2 for HD I/O, DIVO is Onyx only and the Octane Digital Video is not HD.

What can I say, you won't know if it's fast enough until a director is breathing down your neck and wanting to break for lunch.

It'd work, but it'd be painful. And if you want HD input or output, you'll need V6 and a DM3 video board.

Smoke won't run on O2 so that's out. Any Octane with enough bandwidth from disk will work with HD, you'll want at least 3 1Gbit FC adapters or 2 2Gbit ones, plus enough Stones to saturate them. For anything more than straight cuts you'll want as much CPU horsepower as you can get, think dual 600s. A...
