Something strange I note here: Either the switch above the connector for the power cord has broken off or it is not there. Which might have something to say... or not. take a close look next time, I bet it has been broken off - which doesn't matter as long as it broke in the right position ;) Which...

hm, every Crimson I saw so far had one fan running when plugged in. Anyway, as long as your power supply doesn't get to hot, it's probably ok.

SGI bits & pieces for sale

some SGI bits and pieces for sale, everything located in Germany. O2: - audio module - PCI tray (without IP32!) Onyx: - RM4, missing three coolers, worked fine when pulled, *however* I have no Onyx to test it, so I can't give an guarantee. Crimson/4D/PI: - Drive Sled Crimson/4D: - Elan gfx with VME ...

We appreciate that Mike Rowe is a young entrepreneur who came up with a creative domain name... so, taking his own name for the domain is creative, you gotta love those suits  According to Robertson, Rowe may have a good argument for keeping the domain name because it is his real name I really...

Re: Realsoft 3D Demo for IRIX

This is partly a fault of their marketing as they haven't done much to raise awareness about the program, but nevertheless the situation regarding the IRIX port was critical. well, marketing has never been a strenght of Realsoft - which is pretty sad, since Real3D (as it was called back then) is ar...

Hm, I'll take a close look at the machine again, so far I only checked the cardcage blowers, not the blowers in the drive tower - an the back of the power supply is a lot warmer than it should be. As wolflord already said, there is a thermal sensor at the top of the cardcage and no, the machine has ...

4D Twintower question

So, I have this shiny new 4D/220 and it's running fine, *but* one thing is strange. The first two times I fired it up, it was loud as hell, the fans were obviously running at full speed - even louder than my Crimson. Then, suddenly during operation everything became much more quietly - the fans in t...

Videocreator board

I posted a request for info some time ago on comp.sys.sgi.*, but have completely forgotten that board inside my Crimson since then ;) Anyway, I do have a Videocreator board here, I do have two VGX machines here (one Crimson, one Twintower) and I'd like to use it somehow. It'll probably end up in the...
