Re: Is it Solaris 1.0 ?

I read about the SunOS 4.1.1_U1 branded "Solaris 1.0" after Solaris 2.x was released and it was shipped only on CD-ROM, but this version seems to be more a base 4.1.1. At this point I have to proof/validate this... So you're right, at the core it's the SunOS 4.1.1 (BSD based) and has less ...

Is it Solaris 1.0 ?

I had big luck to get an ISO image which possibly contains SunOS 4.1.1 for eg. sun3x (Sun-3/80). The interesting part is, that this could be Solaris 1.0 release. Is that confirmed? I only nowing the tape version. Header of file _COPYRIGHT SunOS 4.1.1 SUNBIN sun4c, sun4, sun3x, sun3 CD-ROM (boot form...

Re: (solved) Illustrator for Irix

In Sun jargon you have an RTU license (Rights-to-Use) which permits you to get a valid license file or the product keys for the FLM. Because FLM ist proprietary SW there are maybe other ways to give it a try but you need some programming skills, deeper knowledge and an SDK depending on the FLM versi...

Not really a surprise but interesting! And where you can read it? - Only read about EVP John Fowler left Oracle. Thx

EDIT: found an article in German. Done.

Re: Installing SunOS 4.0.3c on SPARCstation IPC

Nice!

I'd like to try out SunOS 4.1.1on my SS2 fom a tape backup (2 files only) but have no idea howto accomplish this without QIC24 tape drive. Tips?

I read about a CDROM version which contains also bins for Sun-3/x platform but never could get in touch with the media.

Unfortunatelly not in my archives.

100204 is only a text file documenting adb commands.

Re: Installing SunOS 4.0.3c on SPARCstation IPC

I'm out of my mind. Of course! The IPC is more a repackaged SS1+. Maybe I confused with the IPX which was released after the SS2. I was wondering why the IPC is able to use an even "older SunOS release" than the SS2. Not should write answers so late. Thanks for correction. :-D Why not? Don...

Re: Installing SunOS 4.0.3c on SPARCstation IPC

The Sun IPC was announced in July 1990 and the minimum SunOS should be more like 4.1.1 (aka Solaris 1.0) because it was announced after the SPARCstation 2 for which SunOS 4.1.1 was the minimum. The $9,995 (U.S. list) SPARCstation IPC comes complete with a 16-inch, high-resolution color monitor, 207-...

Re: Sun Ultra 2 Creator without graphic card

Are you sure the SBus framebuffer you got is working? Some details about cabling and monitor, please. Tried to get more info via serial console cable, for ext test/POST run? Video output should work with all kinds of framebuffers, (SBus, UPA). You could also reset NVRAM to defaults. <STOP> + <N> Ser...

Re: Which SGI box is your favorite and why?

I had access to only two machines: An :O2: which was the system of a friend who used it with Maya, but not for serious work. He had also media for some flame version but no dongle, licenses or disk subsystem. Ironically he had to work with combustion 2 under Windows instead. Later bought an :Octane:...

VGA dummy like this on the internet auction house (I'm not the seller or any kind of representative): http://www.ebay.de/itm/Graphics-Card-Display-Powered-VGA-Detection-Dummy-Plug-CablesOnline-VE-D02-/271831175823 So now I'm really confused about the necessity. The manual of the board also...

VGA terminator == VGA dummy connector?

Hi,
I'm wondering if a VGA terminator is the same like a VGA dummy for achieving VGA passthrough over a VESA feature connector?
I'm asking before I put some investment and time into some resistors and an VGA plug.
Cheers, escimo
