Re: 30'' LCD Monitor for Tezro, possible?

Sorry, no chance :( 2560x1600_60hz means a pixel clock frequency of > 300 MHz, while the single-link DVI port on the V12 is limited to 165 MHz. Using a VGA adapter won't help either as the VPros in general are limited by a slow 220 MHz DAC. I doubt the 30" display would accept 2560x1600 on the ...

Re: Origin 350 serial number disaster

whiter ran into a similar issue some time ago. Doesn't look too encoursging though :-(

With those machines being rather recent 1GHz R16ks according to your signature - any chance they are still under support or at least you still have some contacts within SGI?

Re: Cool (open source) software you would like to see ported...

Requirements: - QT4 ( http://trolltech.com/ ), I use 4.1.4 version, 3.3.5 and 4.3.0 are in nekoware. - Qwt ( http://qwt.sourceforge.net/ ), last v. 5.0.0 shot, this would have to be ported first. - JACK ( http://jackaudio.org/ ), and that one too. It doesn't look like it supports IRIX directly but ...

Re: neko_gcc4 (was: Pressing todo-list for nekoware)

Installing binutils, and eliminating my locally built version from my path, g95 continues to operate. Note that g95 needs the -B option (e.g., -B /usr/nekoware/gnu-binutils/bin) to keep it from getting confused with the MIPSPro assembler. Ok. That shouldn't be the case with the gfortran from neko_g...

Re: miniITX Athlon 64 2000+

dual-core does sound nice, but it also sounds like dual-wattage. Yes, the 330 is likely just two 230 cores in one package, doubling the TDP of the CPU to 8 watts - on par with the quoted TDP of the Athlon. Won't have much of an effect on the overall system consumption of course, as it is till troun...

Re: miniITX Athlon 64 2000+

If you go the atom route it might be worth waiting for the D945GCLF2 board with the new dual core version that should be released in september: http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2008/08/20/idf_intel_first_dual_core_atom/ The board will likely be just slightly more expensive than the current D945GCLF and ...

Re: neko_gcc4 (was: Pressing todo-list for nekoware)

Ok, i have uploaded packages for binutils and gcc 4.3.1 to nekoware beta now. I decided to split the latter into five separate packages (nice puzzle ;) ): - neko_gcc43_core: base distribution with C and C++ compilers - neko_gcc43_fortran: Fortran compiler - neko_gcc43_ada: Ada compiler - neko_gcc43_...

Re: Pressing todo-list for nekoware

The build includes all supported languages and multilib support (o32, n32, 64). I'm using tgc99's IRIX 6.2 gcc 4.3.0 to bootstrap it in order to build the ada compiler and joerg's Origin to build it (2 hours for the complete package with -j14; down from 14 hours on my Fuel ;-)). Thanks to both :-) ...

Re: Pressing todo-list for nekoware

I've been tinkering with gcc 4.3.1 and will package it for nekoware unless somebody else is already on it. [timo@o3k ~/gcc/bin ]./gcc -v Using built-in specs. Target: mips-sgi-irix6.5 Configured with: ../gcc-4.3.1/configure -v --enable-languages=ada,c,c++,fortran,objc,obj-c++,java --prefix=/usr/peop...

Re: Altix NUMA systems apparently moving to x86

It definitely IS cheating if such an optimisation is being targeted at the SPEC suite rather than any kind of general optimisation function. I'm not convinced that if this was going on in the way you alledge, other companies wouldn't be blowing the whistle and telling SPEC about it because anything...

Actually even 4 double precision FLOPs/cycle if you include the SIMD units i think (2 x87 + 2 SSE2/3), i.e. 48 GFLOPs/s theoretical peak for the 3GHz Quad Core.

Altix NUMA systems apparently moving to x86

This news bit (german) talks about planned upgrades of the new northern german "HLRN-II" Altix installation - which currently consists solely of Altix ICE x86 clusters. The interesting part is the second passage. It talks about two additional planned "Ultra Violet" SMP systems e...

Re: What mplayer options work best for the O2 ?

Any suggestions as to what kind of repeatable test I could run? Does mplayer have options for benchmarking? Or displaying an average framerate after the movie has been played? Yes, it has the -benchmark switch to do so. I usually added -quiet to reduce the amount of printfs during playback while be...
