'back in college' - my but your younger than i thought with an O3K. Guilty as charged i'm 25 on Friday! there is some middle ground between a shared memory multiprocessor and a distributed message passing multiprocessor (i won't use their classic taxonomy, as i'm sure everyone will argue about that...

I am still kicking myself over that. :roll: Indeed i came across it on one of Sun blogs linked from Opensolaris.org, they've set up http://grommit.com/pos/ (Planet Opensolaris) which is quite a nice way to keep track of blogs with info...

Well yes maybe 50-100 people regulary post, but alot of people no doubt use it as a resource, after all look at all the good work that the folks do putting Nekoware together.

Aye as Neko said. I recall back in college having access to a 40processor Origin 3800 (10 C-Bricks). When you think of it better having 10 c-bricks all interconnected with Numalink under one System Image, then having 10 4-processor boxes each with their own kernel talking to each other over Ethernet...

I picked up an Ultra2 (dual UltrasparcIi-300's, 1.5gb ram, 9gb drive) a few months back and tossed Ubuntu Linux on it.. I'm now using it as my EVERYTHING server (firewall/vpn/mailserver/domain controller/etc/etc/etc).. and it works great.. But lately I'm starting to consider migrating it to Solaris...

Jesting aside though, we didn't have any computers in school ourselves, sure that would of cost money something that was in rare supply in Ireland before the boom in the economy of mid-late 90's onwards.

Aye same here, all i know is there's DVD media for Sparc, x86 and a DVD with Studio 11 etc.

As much as some might say its heresy, this thing is just CRYING for some neon accents too. Should be doable without changing anything else in the rack either. eh, save your money for a g-brick instead. OK took your advice, thanks to Steve at Pastech , I now have a G-brick coming, IR3 with two RM10-...
