Re: Archiver 0.1 - IRIX/IMD GUI for tar.

i'm using mipspro 7.4.3. like i said above, it all works just fine for me. Well like the Unix Haters Manual says, "It's just different sometimes." When I start the program, I get this on the standard output: Archiver: settings loaded Warning: DropPocket dropPocket cannot load "...

Re: Archiver 0.1 - IRIX/IMD GUI for tar.

What compiler are you guys using? I'm getting The namespace "std" has no member "tolower" in line 46 in Utils.C with MIPSPro 7.4. Just by way of a brute force hack I changed the call from std::tolower to just tolower and included the headers c_locale.h, locale and stl_ctype.h and...

Re: Article: The Coming Software Apocalypse

Probably my all-time favorite book on programming is "The Capability Maturity Model, Guidelines for Improving the Software Process" by a variety of contributors from the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon. We're CMMI level 5 appraised at my place of employ, which was a labor...

Re: Archiver 0.1 - IRIX/IMD GUI for tar.

Looking at the source code now, I see you fall firmly into the "tabs" camp in the "tabs vs. spaces" religious war, gotta say I'm a spaces guy (which is probably why all the patches I've submitted to the Linux kernel have been rejected)... ;) I'm OOO ATM but I'll fire up my Tezro ...

I wish I'd bought Apple 20 years ago but if I owned any now I would for sure be selling it, they are very near the tipping point...

Re: "dubious" - Tezro 4x700 with V12/DCD/DM3

Also I am surprised that Tezro is actually quite quiet. I agree with you, the Tezro is not nearly as noisy as one would expect if you consider the number of fans in there! I agree also, I consider my Octane2 and my Tezro to be quite pleasantly quiet, especially compared to the ungodly racket that a...

Wow, that is a thing of beauty! Where did you find one in such pristine condition? The thing's gotta be darn near 20 years old by now. I've never seen one In Real Life but it looks like this information might be accurate: http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/docs/HOWTO/other-formats/html_single/...

building firefox 56

Does anybody have a copy of acgeneral.m4 that actually works to build firefox with? And isn't "with" a preposition? And, not to rant or anything, but if the version of acgeneral.m4 that firefox requires is impossible to find on the Interwebs why the hell don't they include it in their ridi...

Re: about LISP performance

Speaking of which, with regard to the Explorer, if I'm remembering right symbolics was the first dot com ever to be registered. Could be wrong about that as my memory from that era is notoriously faulty. At the time I was working for FMC Corporation when we were (approximately) the 50th dot com to b...
