Nevermind the Amiga when there is BeBox on the table.

Re: RAR rant

In here from early to late 90´s ARJ was the king and most people used that to share games and other software. I still have nightmares of putting something to 50 disks and hoping all those disks would still work at home. Those were the fun days before CD burners became standard equipment on every sys...

Re: So long and thanks for all the fish.

I prefer doing things just because I can and not because I have to. Also better not bring work to home with you and just leave it at the workplace. Free time is for relaxing and if someone has to worry about those same things at work and in home, then when can you zero your thoughts and get to more ...

Re: So long and thanks for all the fish.

Mixing hobbies and work is never a good idea.

Same thing with sports really as when it gets too serious, things are not that fun anymore.

Re: o2 slow - compare with Octane, Fuel, Mac Pro

It was little ironic that Apple went to Intel camp after mocking regular Intel PC:s and then they started to build similar systems themself. I see nothing special on these new Macs that would make me choose one instead of some cheap PC from local supermarket. If you turn your coat too many times it ...

Re: high tech, the cloud, information economy, etc

It is pretty sad when even word processing software takes hundreds of megabytes hard disk space. For example Apple Pages seems to be almost 300 MB of size when something I regularly use is less than 2.5 MB. Talk about bloated and no wonder why people need bigger disks and all those trendy SSD drives...

Re: ...How To Clean Up CAD Blue-Prints To Print Out?

That time of the year here in Finland when you have to change winter tires.

I put this here as it looks pretty good for something that was drawn by me in couple hours. I think the tire is good compromise as with too much detail it would only work in bigger sizes.

If you ask me, homeschool would be huge mistake.

In public school there is also that social aspect as you have chance to meet other people and get some new friends. That alone has to be worth something...

Re: Blender inspirations

Was it a commercial product at some point? I thought it has always been free and was developed as an open source product from the beginning. I tried blender few times many years ago but the user interface that looks like some Amiga software from the year 1990 put me off. Everything is too small and ...

Re: Was the age of Unix workstations really golden?

I only have experience of the Unix workstations after those golden years as was too young at the time and if I would have been older, I still would not have had enough money to buy one at the time. To me the age of 8 bit homecomputers was the real golden age and everything after that is just fools g...

Re: Was the age of Unix workstations really golden?

Everytime I see words like workstation and multiuser used in same context, it always feels to me like a pretty stupid idea. When I think about a workstation I think of high performance and quality system designed for real work and it sits on the desk of someone serving just that single person. The w...

Anyone tried to compile current version of NetSurf for Irix and see how it works now?

At least the RISC OS version is pretty usable with very modest hardware but I have no idea how the current GTK version fares up to that.

Re: Elysium

To me District 9 was big disappointment when I watched it. I do not like the style movie was filmed and it was very boring until the very end, where the action saved some of the film. The effects were actually not bad and there would have been much more potential if all those resources would have be...
