It's pretty helpless now. I'm sure i got dhcp/bootp working the right way now. I know rsh is working. I'm still not %100 about tftp. tftp keeps saying error blah file not found. I think i'm borking this up from the irix side. I can't get sash from the command line on the irix prom. boot -f bootp()19...

give up for now

I gave up. Every time i restarted my machine the dhcp client would rename my machine IRIS. I turned the dhcp client off like mathias said, and now my hostname sticks. I'll try to figure out what was going on after i trim the fat off my startup times.

My problem is that my machine keeps getting renamed. I want my machine to be called johannah. I edit /etc/sys_id and /etc/hosts, but dhcp keeps renaming my machine IRIS. It's making my blood boil right now :evil:. Other than that dhcp is working as advertised

i got the dhcp client to stop seting up ec1 by commenting out a line on /etc/config/proclaim.options.
