Was: Octane VPro 10 for sale/trade now V12

V10 has gone, but I now have a V12 on offer.
There have been two of these on ebay recently one for 2500 and other for 2800 (with DCD option).
I will sell V12 for $2300 or $ 2000 + V6 .
Send a PM if interested.

Branding

Squeen & others, There seems to be some interest out there in the DM10 that is for sure. Could you please have a look at your board to see if it provides any hints as to who the manufactauer. Also how many FW ports does it provide? I think the older DV Link board for O2 had 3 FW ports. Maybe you...

card brand?

Squeen,
Thanks for the info. So is the DMediaPro DM10 an SGI card or is it a rebrand?
Needless to say I am asking this to see if there is a cheap way for me get get DV I/O for my Octane2, or is DM10 reasonably priced to begin with?
Thanks

DMediaPro DM10 (Firewire) & Octane2

I see SGI is now advertising that the DM10 Firewire card is now supported on Octane2.
Does anyone know anything about DM10? Is this an SGI rebadging of another vendors Firewire card, or is this a revival of O2 DVLink card?
Thanks in advance.

Also check that you have the right and left speaker the right way around. I you plug the wire from octane into wrong input on speaker then sound will not work. To test this simply plug a set of headphones into the octane output and see if these work. If they do then this would indicate that you have...

Brombear,

Thanks for link. Here is another question.
Does the SGI CDPlay (DatMan/CDMan) still work with DVD-ROM?
Thanks again.

DVD Boots

Brombear,

Is it possible to boot from SGI Installation CD with Toshiba DVD?
Do you have to jumper it to report as CD-ROM rather than DVD?
Thanks for information.

Aliasing and FPS

Mare & Brombear, First on anti-alliasing. When you run the town demo on MXE you will notice that if you move around the town quickly that the graphics get quite jerky. Also if you observe the thin objects, such as railway crossing and football oval goal posts there is quite a lot of "popping" as...

Now its an Octane, now its an Octane2

Whiter, I have an Octane2 that includes blue octane2 skins and a "silicon graphics octane2" sticker on the chassis (for what it is worth). I choose to run it with MXE/EVO for video. I also recently got VPro V12. So is it an Octane2 when I have MXE/EVO in it or is it an Octane2 only when running VPro...

Whiter,

Thanks for feedback. I did an "keep *" then "install refresh" (I think) as per upgrade instructions. My machine hang when I first rebooted, so I was forced to read the manual ;-)

Older IRIX

I found a simillar problem, when I tried to do clean install from a 6.5.4 CD set on a 1467 system board machine. So I think the problem is not just Oddessy/VPro related by 1467 related as well. 6.5.8 and up works with 1467 and 6.5.10 up required for VPro V10/V12. As "IRIX" has evolved bits of softwa...

VPro/Oddessy and IRIX

I recently installed a VPro V12 into my Octane and was disappointed to find I had to do in OS reinstall to get it running. After doing the OS reinstall I run the diagnostics, but it comes up with message about not being able to run diagnostics on "Oddessy" graphics and to run the unix utility "odsyd...

Whiter, The firmware can be located by following the link from here: http://kickme.to/sdt9000 I have found that I was able to flash to and from SGI firmware using the Sony Windows based "Tape Utility", which is located here: http://sony.storagesupport.com/dds/dds_drivers.htm I would be curious to se...
