Re: Dubious Tezro on ebay (certainly not mine!)

Hi Nekocaners, Old dubious should arrive in Australia this coming week. I have been doing reading of forums on Tezro/Origin 350/Onyx 350 and wondering a couple of things... 1. I see that Tezro Rack is part of Chimera group and system boards are inter-changeable across then. Is this also true of Tezr...

Re: Tezro, Quad-R16K/1GHz (16MB L2), 4GB, V12/DM3, RAID

Hi Edinburgh Ian, I know this is old thread, but have been reading this one and and this one: http://forums.nekochan.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16719768 to try to get idea on Tezro Rack vs Tower. I have old dubious Tezro Tower on way having come to conclusion that if you wanted to have V12 & DM...

Re: Dubious Tezro on ebay (certainly not mine!)

Hi Nekochaners, Not sure which is harder... 1. Getting spouse approval or 2. Getting 30 Kg Tezro shipped to Oz without damage. ;) Shipping was nearly AUD $500 , so should be fast service and so minimize likelihood of damage. As an aside I ordered couple of ACARD scsi/sata adaptors to allow me to put...

Re: Dubious Tezro on ebay (certainly not mine!)

Hi Nekochaners, Very long time since I last posted or even turned on my Octane2... But saw this old Tezro and thought it looked like interesting sgi/irix revival project to add last of sgi mips workstations to my old computer museum (3 x PC, 3 x M68k Mac, 1 x SGI Octane2). Seller sent me hinv and it...

Re: DMediaPro DM2/DM3/DM5 and VBOB Compatibility

Hi Recondas,

great find. Thanks.

I see that in both cases only a single DVI connection is made to VBOB for both Octane2 & Tezro installation, which is interesting.

Based on this cabling info it looks like the second DVI connection and the monitor connection are redundant.

Cheers,

Re: DMediaPro DM2/DM3/DM5 and VBOB Compatibility

Neko, A way around this maybe is to plug vbob dvi out into HDTV ... My tv is a long way from computer, but I also have Apple cinema display, so will try with that. Did you try this? /usr/gfx/dmconf -destination active \ -vpro format=1920x1154_30f \ -dm5 format=1080I_5994 As per: http://techpubs.sgi....

Re: DMediaPro DM2/DM3/DM5 and VBOB Compatibility

recondas & others, Thanks for tip on VBOB version, I come across that one... but it was not possible to tell exactly what I had until I got info on diagnostic port. That has confirmed that I have vbob firmware: 1.3.22 & dm5. As next step I uninstalled and reinstalled the "DMediaPro DM2/...

Re: DMediaPro DM2/DM3/DM5 and VBOB Compatibility

Nekochaners, thanks for all the tips, very useful, especially about diagnostic port. I will do some testing over the weekend. Neko I got LVDS cables from Nekochaner "Richtom1" for $45 each, so if you need cables I believe he still has some for VBOB or are you talking about coax for video? ...

DMediaPro DM2/DM3/DM5 and VBOB Compatibility

Nekochaners, time to dust of the Octane2 and try out DM2 and VBOBs. Can people please advise whether there are specific compatibility issues across various version of DM2, DM3 and VBOBs with and without DM5 board installed. People probably noticed that a bunch of VBOB have gone on ebay recently for ...

Re: Getting AHCI Enabled Windows XP Boot Camp Installation

I presume if you are using "esata" that you have taken one of the extra unused SATA lines from Mac Pro and linked it to e-SATA backet to allow e-SATA drives to be plugged in. There should be no difference between e-SATA case and what I describe here... e-SATA is still exactly the same as S...

Getting AHCI Enabled Windows XP Boot Camp Installation

Nekochaners, I previously posted about using MCE Blu-ray kit on Mac Pro (Early 2008) and problems this had with iTunes ripping, so I removed the ATA/SATA bridge and connected the Blu-ray disk via SATA to one of the two spare SATA ports on the systems board. However this introduced issues of not bein...
