i would be interested to see how well it works on a better cpu... did you say you were going to try it on an r10k? have you got access to an r12k? i guess like mplayer it'll be back to the speed of the output plugin... without Xv, (or TRAM for gl) accelerated divx would still be a pipedream... :/ - ...

terribly off topic, but you should come to the irc channel from time to time jwhat

since we're both in australia and all...

as for the TRAM... oh how i wish i had SSE instead of just SE :(

i doubt you'd want to sell just one as that would make it harder to sell the other i suppose...

People always bash Blender's UI. I dunno, I'm pretty comfortable with it. Once you learn it, work is a breaze. Kinda like Vi. blender's UI is a fantastic example of one that is "hard to learn, but easy to use" the complete antithesis of things like M$ Word which are very easy to get started on and ...

i was afraid of that. shipping a cpu to australia is no biggie... shipping a cpu and motherboard starts to become a different story i think :(

i really wanted one of those r5k 150's

it's prereqs are asking for openssl 0.9.6j and refusing to admit that that is the version i already have installed. mind you, i have the beta one installed (due to not having a /dev/random)

unless is it requiring the one from august freeware even though it is the same version in name?

i personally couldn't get 17m to 'go on'

i had zero problems from 6.5.6 (what i base installed) -> 6.5.16m, but no luck at all with 17m (even from the working 16m)

not sure if it's just me though...

heya... yeah i'd be keen to get this up and running... i foolishly downloaded the 'source' thinking i could install it myself ("it's java, right?" pffft) obviously their idea of 'source' and mine are a tad different. there are parts of this so-called source distribution that are in fact binaly libs....

i'd probably also be interested in parts of it but not the whole. also i am in australia so shipping the whole would be pointless. but.. i would probably pay as much for the 2-3 parts i want than has been suggested so far for the whole system, and then you could still sell the kb and mouse as sugges...

i just installed 6.5.6 on an indigo r4k 100, 128MB ram w/ XS24z GHX and a 1gb drive the other night.

it's great, except there is only like 100mb free after the install ;)

you certainly need some space on 6.5.x

i know vegac has the answer now, but for anyone else iirc it's just in the kdebase tardist... so all you REALLY need for fast browsing is the qt and the kdebase and kdelibs tardists from DD5

Re: customizing irix/4dwm/motif

I finally got fed up with all the space wasting in irix, making my 1280x1024 feel like 800x600, i tried a couple of replacement windows managers and didn't like them much, so I decided to see how much I can do within 4dwm/motif. So discovering /usr/lib/X11/app-defaults/4DWm, I narrowd the borders f...

Yes it's in there. I installed everything to make sure it would work, and it's way faster on the o2 200 than any of the mozilla variants. Now I just need to figuer out how to repackage it as only the stuff needed for konqueror. 300 mb for a browser is a bit much. just install qt and kdebase. this D...
