Re: Project Update Thread: Miniature Indigos

That would be really cool, though each tower would still be as tall as a Fuel at 1/8th scale. 1/32 scale with all 5 towers lined up would be a really cool display to install on a wall table.

Re: How frequently you use your SGI (in 2017)?

I have the Teorder VGA to HDMI upscaler. It works, but the colors a bit bit washed out and it stretches the 4:3 display to fit my 16:10 monitor.

Re: SGI Drive Sled Models

I got the rails done. They are nearly identical to the original rails. They fit perfectly and work. The front section is printing now, with luck it will fit perfectly too. I put the STL file up on Thingiverse, https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2512810 , and will update with the front piece when done...

Re: SGI O2 HDD caddy (STL file needed for 3D printing)

Currently printing an Octane/O2K/Onyx2/O200 sled I designed this morning, as those seem to be particularly difficult to find (though I have quite a few, perhaps the previous owner of my parts boxes was stockpiling them). ... Perhaps this should be a collaborative project with swarm and anyone else ...

Re: Project Update Thread: Miniature Indigos

Trying to add the url version to the signature makes it say "Image" instead of showing the image (see your own signature). Also, adding just the image works, but it is only 3px x 5px in size, which may be to scale compared to :Indigo: / http://dodoid.net/indigo/mini_indigo_sig_icon.png , b...

Re: Next Project Machine?

I just saw an Octane on ebay, starting bid $50 with $100 shipping. Looked like a pretty good machine. I thought about trying to get it for min bid just get get the drive sleds and extra parts (dual CPU)!

I'll test on my MXE when I get the machine back online.

Octane Diagnostics - extended_tests runtime

I just upgraded an Octane with new CPU, RAM, and graphics. I wanted to be sure all the new hardware was good, so I ran IDE diagnostics. Everything came back as good. Then I decided to try "extended_tests" because why not... I have no idea what extended_tests are, but they said they would t...

Re: Onyx Problems, seemingly power related

I'm guessing you have not replaced and/or reformed the capacitors in the power supply? I just did that with the power supply in my Octane. It was not great fun, but it made the power supply come back to life.

Re: SGI O2 HDD caddy (STL file needed for 3D printing)

kubatyszko: I cannot imagine true SGI workstation without a crappy plastic case. In fact, I would like to print the optical drive front plate which is missing on two of my O2 workstations. Unfortunately, there is no ABS/PLA filament with this dark blue color. Are you able to find a filament with th...

Re: SGI O2 HDD caddy (STL file needed for 3D printing)

HurricaneJames: I would not be able to make such object in openscad. It would take at least one day even with all useful macros that a friend of mine created. Long time ago I was creating graphics elements for 3D games so I used an old 3D modeler tool to make the most of this model (it has only 700...

Re: SGI O2 HDD caddy (STL file needed for 3D printing)

How long did it take you to become proficent in openscad? I decided to give it a try for a similar project, it took hours to create anything, and my model has lots of floating point issues where vertices do not line up perfectly. I'm sure it it is just ramp up pains, but cannot even estimate the tim...

Re: OSX Snow Leopard - NTFS Support

Did you try MacFUSE?

I think I used to use Paragon back in the Panther/Tiger days, but it seems they only support newer versions of OSX now. They might still have the old software around if you email them.

Re: SGI O2 HDD caddy (STL file needed for 3D printing)

Nice printer. That thing has huge build volume. Mine is about an 3cm to small for the sled, so I'm going to have to break it up and glue it, at least for the first couple prototypes.
