Re: your latest purchase

Funny, I find Windows 10 to be better than windows 7 at getting out of my way. However, I hate the forced updates which will reboot my computer in the middle of a working session without warning.

Re: Neat Tezro for sale in the US (No international shipping though)

If you are willing to bid to about the $950 mark then you could probably win it. That seems high. Honestly, I debated at $700. There are no pictures of the inside, no hinv, no extra PCI cards, and only a vague guarantee that it even starts. My experience buying computers on ebay is that people who ...

Nice! Did you make some of the bricks move so the CD drive tray can slide out?

Re: Neat Tezro for sale in the US (No international shipping though)

Yeah, it is in Gilroy, just south of me. I'm currently the high bidder, though I doubt it will stay that way. Also, I just noticed the shipping more than doubled since I bid this morning :(. Hopefully they will let me do a local pickup if I win.

Octane: R12k 250MHz, 640MB, 2xESI

Mr Bill helped me with this awesome box when I thought my first Octane was beyond repair. The dual ESI graphics cards are really sweet. For the moment it is still running IRIX 6.5.3m. I think I'll leave it with that so I can compare/contrast older IRIX 6.5 with 6.5.30. The only thing this box needed...

Re: WTB : SGI compliant female 13W3 to male VGA cable (short length OK)

It isn't cheap, but a Sun video gender changer might work with Michael's adapter? http://www.networktechinc.com/cgi-bin/k ... w3-ff.html

I'm just guessing that it is a pure pass-through connection, in which case it should be fine.

Re: WTB : SGI compliant female 13W3 to male VGA cable (short length OK)

michaelpastras, a member here on this board, sells one on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Handmade-SGI-13w3-to-VGA-Cable-Adapter-with-H-V-Sync-Routing/282660560550 I personally use it to connect my Octane to an ASUS PA248Q. That same cable also worked when connecting to a normal 65" HDTV via the ...

It is possible to see two distinct light sources when viewed exactly from the front, but within 15 degrees or so they combine into a single solid white bar.

Re: Octane: 2xR12k 300MHz, 2048MB, MXE

The light bar does look great, something I will have to address with all my Octanes very soon. They all work, but a little flat, I want them to look like a damn disco! There is not a lot of room in there, but probably enough for a bank of small RGB LEDs and a couple of wires leading to an atiny (or...

Re: Octane: 2xR12k 300MHz, 2048MB, MXE

The LEDs came out amazing. They look bright white in the photo, but they are a much softer white in real life. In person they look exactly the way I remember the originals. I managed to put the new LEDs in without damaging the original board, but did some of the craziest "please don't touch&quo...

I would PM in a heartbeat, but shipping from The Netherlands to California would be at least 2x the cost of the machine and too likely to to break it :(

Octane: 2xR12k 300MHz, 2048MB, MXE

It took a long time, and more money than I originally planned, but I finally managed to get my first Octane running and nicely upgraded to nearly max spec original Octane. I also fixed the lightbar with some soft white LEDs. I think it came out really nice. The scuffs look way worse in the photo tha...

Interesting, this looks like something Dodoid could really use for the Onyx he is trying to get running.
