WANTED: Indy

I'm thinking my next project machine is going to be an Indy. Octane's are too expensive to get into and I'm limited on funds.

What is a reasonable price for an Indy?

Re: Jim Clark interview (Aug 2017)

I met him briefly when I worked at Linux Networx. It was like meeting the Pope. It really was. He's so freaking intelligent, but you don't feel stupid around him. He's just not that kind of person. I had a million questions for him, but alas, I was just a lowly software integrator and more important...

Re: Next Project Machine?

IDK. One thing I will say about HP is how hobbyist friendly they are. I'd love to see them give out hobbyist licenses of Irix like the do with OpenVMS and HP-UX. I think it's a matter of doing what the DEC boys have done and let them know there is a thriving hobbyist community. But I see HP throwing...

Re: Next Project Machine?

We can thank the government for that. When they decommissioned their SGIs, the drives, sled and all, got destroyed to protect any classified information. That's why there are more machines than sleds. The same problem exists for Sun workstations too. SGI/HPE probably has whole boxes full of them sho...

Re: How frequently you use your SGI (in 2017)?

My O2 gets used daily for IRC and ssh to SDF. I'm very near to getting the latest Pidgin to compile, and when that happens, I'll use it for my chat needs more. Trying to learn Softimage...but I get distracted :p My daily driver is an iMac since browsing the web on my O2 isn't possible. I don't know ...

Next Project Machine?

So my buddy Raion-Fox is sending me the last parts I need to finish my second sad O2, and then he'll be done :D And I'll have 2 {mostly} identical O2s. I've gotten alot of satisfaction rebuilding them to working condition. So I pose this... What should my next project machine be? I'd like to do an O...

Re: IRIX unable to mount share from FreeBSD w/ ZFS

I'm a moron. I figured it out. There was a stale NFS handle on /mnt/software from a previous mount. Soon as a umount /mnt/software and then mounted it again, it worked.

Re: IRIX unable to mount share from FreeBSD w/ ZFS

I kinda figured that. I don't know how to make it expose itself as an NFS3 share. So IDK :(

Re: IRIX unable to mount share from FreeBSD w/ ZFS

Hmm...tried that. No love :(

My Macs, and all my other FreeBSD machines can connect to it just fine. Just not the SGIs :( Which is kinda important cuz that's where nekoware lives on my network :\

IRIX unable to mount share from FreeBSD w/ ZFS

I'm wondering if anybody has seen this. I have a server (server1) with FreeBSD and ZFS. I have /exports/SGI in my /etc/exports and also did: zfs set sharenfs="-alldirs -network=192.168.2.0/24" tank/exports/SGI But when I try and mount it from my O2, it says: trajan 3# mount server1:/export...
