How do I fix this?! >:(

I'm at my wits end trying to fix the characters on my terminal when I ssh into SDF. I've tried several terminals, including urxvt for unicode support, I've tried different fonts, and I really don't want to start porting xfstt for truetype to IRIX. I just want it to look right. Can haz fix? https://i...

Re: found openssh-7.4p1 -O2 compiler bug

Bump up to thank Dexter for updated SSH packages. Now I don't have to spend all night compiling it on my rebuilt O2 :D

Re: YAY! My twins are starting to look twinly.

Ohhh....a franken O2. There is a guy on eBay who has some covers pretty reasonably. I have the all the internal pieces. I just can't believe I didn't keep the cover (or maybe I did and it's shoved somewhere).

Yeah. He did have a CD-ROM that I _tried_ to fix...but....hmm....let's just say Double IPAs and fixing CD-ROMS don't mesh well :p Yeah. I'll e-mail Ian. I may hit you up for a CD-ROM.

Re: VNC to Origin2000

Then your guess is as good as mine. I don't _see_ why it wouldn't work without a graphics board (it's super easy to do in on other *nixes). All X11 really is a rendering engine for graphical components. SGI's is a little more than that. So IDK.

YAY! My twins are starting to look twinly.

YAY! :D Thanks to Raion-Fox, I have skins for my nekkid SGI. All he needs now is a CD-ROM and he will be a completed restore :D That's not a high priority right now since everything boots off the network. But ain't they just dandy lookin' side-by-side? https://i.imgur.com/Q2iCMb5.jpg

Re: VNC to Origin2000

You proably also have to chkconfig visuallogin too because that X's session manager.

Re: VNC to Origin2000

What happens if you run xinit. That's how you generally start X.

Re: VNC to Origin2000

I've never dealt with a headless IRIX install. I always do a default install which includes X. I'd imagine if you install the IRIX Interactive Desktop components from your Foundation CD, you can install it that way.

Re: VNC to Origin2000

You need to setup X since VNC grabs X11 frames and transmits them. I know on Linux you can have a virtual framebuffer device for VNC, but I don't think IRIX has anything like that.
