Re: How does one edit video using an Octane with beefy CPUs but bottom of the barrel graphics?

IRIX's bundled moviemaker works. Will need to convert modern video formats (mp4, etc..) to what it can support though. And large video conversions are slow on an Octane, but another system you may have lying around could convert it more quickly. I found moviemaker's editing quite nice for basic edi...

Re: MaXX is back!

This is all so wrong.. has anyone seen Stephen Kings Pet Sematary ? Haven't seen it, but I'm guessing you're not fond of the idea of an IID looking GUI on Linux? Do you consider it disrespectful to IRIX and SGI? I know we all dearly love IRIX, me included, but wouldn't applying one of IRIX's best f...

Re: MaXX is back!

I can host the file if required, with a secure-ish link. I can provide read-write access to a specific folder for uploading. Let me know. He uploaded it to MEGA and sent me a PM. Haven't been able to make it work on modern Linux just yet, tried the Debian version on the latest Debian. I had to modi...

Re: Does anyone have a copy of Maxx desktop?

I've got binaries from 2001 and 2008, that I ran under Slackware 8 and Slackware 12, haven't tried to run them in a looooong time. Eric never released the source code, the license he had from SGI wouldn't permit it, but for a while there he was renegotiating the license to remove that restriction. ...

Re: Does anyone have a copy of Maxx desktop?

The Maxx website is down and has been for a while, and I can't find a copy. Does anyone have it? Preferably I would like source code, but binaries are fine as well. I have got 24.09.2016 08:40 <DIR> . 24.09.2016 08:40 <DIR> .. 18.04.2015 02:22 <DIR> DEBIAN 18.04.2015 02:22 <DIR> FEDORA 21.02.2014 0...

Note 4, hoping to get a Note 7 once non-explodey ones become available. When I get it, you can bet there will be a "rubbing the phone on an Indy and complaining that the iris scanner doesn't work" joke in one of my videos.

Re: [eBay] Onyx4 Quad 800Mhz CPUs, 8G ram, 146g 15K drive, V12 [USA]

Tezros won't be coming down in price for as long as there's people trying to hustle them to hobbyists. Just ask mopar, mashek, 3ddoc, and ian. They love raping people with overpriced sgi stuff. And NO ONE here is just going to give their Tezro away to some kid. Do you think vishnu will let you pry ...

My Octane came with one that has a few cards in it, not sure if I would consider selling it. I have never looked at it too closely, IDK what's in it.

Re: O2000 and Onyx2 Rack available

Would take these in a heartbeat, but I'm in Canada, and freight seems like a lot of work. Oh well, will have to wait for someone in Ottawa/Montreal/Toronto to sell off a big iron to go with my workstations. You don't want to pay shipping for these, believe me... ;) BTW: Here are the two. They have ...

Can agree, Nekochan is usually very helpful and a good place to talk about SGI (or the other platforms it has boards for). Definately an excellent community.

Re: Emacs 25.1 started dropping support for IRIX

Remember my post where I said it was a breeze to compile emacs (23-some version) under IRIX? http://forums.nekochan.net/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=16725912&hilit=emacs Well, won't be true for long: ** By default, Emacs no longer works on IRIX. We expect that Emacs users are not affected by this, ...
