Re: Project Update Thread: Miniature Indigos

CNC maybe, but that's an expensive machine.

Re: BASH the SGI font logo

I too prefer the bug logo, but I really like the "sgi" font.

Re: A smear campaign against nekochan.net mods on reddit

Reddit admins will never delete anything (except in very rare and usually extremely controversial cases) but the moderators of individual subreddits can if they choose to. The sub he posted to, however, is seemingly tiny and seldom moderated, so I somehow doubt it was mods.

Re: CM-5 Connection machine case for SBC

One thing to keep in mind with 3D printing is that overhangs (like the top of the case there) need to either be printed with supports (which can cause a problem as they can be messy once removed) or as real overhangs (which also can come out messy or fail altogether). However, I wouldn't worry about...

Re: How frequently you use your SGI (in 2017)?

Someday I would like to build an ODROID-XU4S onto an Alteon gigabit ethernet card and power it off the PCI so that I could build a true accelerator card for any PCI-enabled SGI. Would probably need a 3D printed cooling shroud and a small fan to cool the network card and ODROID, but I can do that. Sl...

Re: Project Update Thread: Miniature Indigos

Just looked up that thing. If you were to scale down one of those things to fit on your desk, you might preserve scale best by making the front an LCD screen and replacing each indicator light with a pixel!

It's probably open on my desktop at home (I always have like 4 windows with 30 tabs each, so it's more than likely to be in one of them). Will be able to tell you in a few hours.

Re: Wanted: Octane

I think Mashek is around there, but those prices are also pretty high. Shipping around SGIs is not cheap, so something near you is your best option.

Re: Project Update Thread: Miniature Indigos

I have confirmed that this happens sometimes, seemingly at random. I suggest using the image only version instead. Thanks!

Re: Onyx Problems, seemingly power related

So I got the new Dallas chip from Digi-Key and swapped it in. As expected, no change to the problem, but good to have. Does anyone know where on the System Controller voltage monitoring takes place? I could multimeter probe it and see what it's doing if I knew. Thanks!

Re: SGI O2 HDD caddy (STL file needed for 3D printing)

Currently printing an Octane/O2K/Onyx2/O200 sled I designed this morning, as those seem to be particularly difficult to find (though I have quite a few, perhaps the previous owner of my parts boxes was stockpiling them). It's kind of a long print, and I started the print and left home for the weeken...

Re: Project Update Thread: Miniature Indigos

It seems to work now. Not entirely sure why, but I saw the problem happen on my phone this morning and it disappeared after I reloaded the page. Very strange. My web hosting is kind of odd, it may have caused the problem.

Re: Dodoid Mini Indigo is now on sale!

I posted a general update on the Mini Indigos over in the thread in SGI: Discussion. Essentially, you can now include Mini Indigos in your signature (like this http://dodoid.net/indigo/mini_indigo_sig_icon.png ) and the Mini Indigo is now made using a much more reliable printing method. Check it out...

Re: Next Project Machine?

Ah, I wondered if data destruction policies had something to do with it. 3D printing them seems like the best option, unless HPE wants to open up the vaults with the IRIX source, InfiniteReality 5, and Banana2000 prototype  ...

Mini Indigo in your signiature!

You can now include your Mini Indigo http://dodoid.net/indigo/mini_indigo_sig_icon.png in your signature and in forum posts! The Mini Indigo icon is one quarter the size of the normal Indigo :Indigo: icon, just like the real Mini Indigo, so it should be to scale with the other systems in your signat...
