Re: Fuel DMediaPro DM6 PCI Digital Video

WOW that's quite a pricy piece of hardware! If that's a decent price, then I would hate to see a not so decent price! Just being facetious. :D UUNIX, If this is a fair price for this card and you still have yours, the you can sell it to fund your TEZRO! :D After looking around and seeing what people...

Re: Dubious Tezro on ebay (certainly not mine!)

Why are you wanting to go the rack mount route?

I suppose you can build a humongous Tezro system this way.

Re: How can Apple reclaim its dominance over PC-based workstations?

For that Matter, My i7 980X can play any of todays games at max setting at 2560 by 1440, but what helps it is the fact that it's system disk reads at 1480 Mega Bytes per second according to ATTO and it has a GTX TITAN X installed. It therefore has better Graphics hardware and a better system disk th...

Re: Dubious Tezro on ebay (certainly not mine!)

I have an Origin 350 node board in my Tezro. Its a quad R16K 700 MHz with 8MB cash per CPU as apposed to the 4MB of cash per CPU that you get in standard Tezro, not that this really matters, as the types of application that I would run on the machine wouldn't be able to take advantage of the extra c...

Re: How can Apple reclaim its dominance over PC-based workstations?

I used to have a thunderbolt display and it was similar, you could feel heat venting out the bottom. Especially with everything cranked up (in a bright office and powering a laptop) But the case stayed fairly cool to the touch. Now I have dell P2415Q displays and there is no fan, they barely get s...

Re: How can Apple reclaim its dominance over PC-based workstations?

My Cinema Display is the 2010 (2560 by 1440) model, so it more than likely runs hot due to the older technology then. Its actually got a fan inside and you can feel the hot air venting out of the bottom of the unit in the area where the speakers are. I definitely hope that they incorporate standard ...

Re: How can Apple reclaim its dominance over PC-based workstations?

Here are awesome design concept for the next Mac Pro, but it's a pity that they're not Apples concept:

Re: How can Apple reclaim its dominance over PC-based workstations?

I suppose, if you need a real workstation, which I don't, then the Mac Pro's an awesome computer, but if you do, then rather look in HP's direction! I will buy the new Mac Pro, next year, regardless, as the current Mac Pro has a form of elegance that PC simply can't match and I'm sure the next one w...

Re: How can Apple reclaim its dominance over PC-based workstations?

No upgrade parts were offered because it wasn't standard - the best you could hope for is to upgrade your D300 to a D700 from another mac pro. There are power limitations as well - the juice wasn't there, and neither was the radiator capacity. The apple upgrade path from this machine is to buy a ne...

Re: How can Apple reclaim its dominance over PC-based workstations?

The GPU models in this machine are easily replaceable, as they simply connect to the "bottom plane" of the machine via mezzanine connectors.

If they had made the parts available, the machines could very easily have been upgraded by the local iStore!

Re: How can Apple reclaim its dominance over PC-based workstations?

They announced a new mac pro over a year in advance in April, which is something they've never done before. And they announced the imac pro very early as well. That might be so, but the Mac Pro 2013 has proprietary graphics hardware and GPU's are the part of the machine that definitely ages the qui...

Re: WTB : SGI compliant female 13W3 to male VGA cable (short length OK)

Just one question: Are you sure that you won't need some kind of signal booster for a video cable of that length(100ft)?

As you might loose signal fidelity due to losses incurred due to the length of the cable.

Edit: according to this table, you should be able to get away with it.
