Re: Onyx R10k IR deskside on the 'Bay

And it's gone!

Some lucky person just scored himself a very clean machine!

Its true that it might be missing a panel, but the panels that are there are good!

Im pretty sure that most of the components in that machine are in good order, judging by its cosmetic condition!

Re: Onyx R10k IR deskside on the 'Bay

HurricaneJames, I have no experience with the Onyx 1, so I can only speak for the Onyx 2. They can be rather difficult to get going, but see it as a project or a work in process! If you have the money for it and you're in the area, I would say GO FOR IT! Once you have the machine then you can go thr...

Re: Onyx R10k IR deskside on the 'Bay

Cool! For those who don't already know, items can often tend to get "lost" on eBay! Even tough may you think that you are carrying out an eBay-wide search, when you are searching for something using eBay's normal search function. eBay is divided into regions and often items listed in Europ...

Make use of eBay's Global Search and you will see it.

Here is a screenshot of the listing.

Re: With my SGI History Series complete, I have compiled all episodes for back-to-back viewing. Enjoy!

Great series! There is very little "good video coverage" of these great machines on YouTube to spark peoples interest. Its great to see what you've done, and judging by the number of views that your videos have had in such a short time, it definitely shows that they are helping to spark pe...

I would give anything to have a fully functional Cray 2.

In my opinion, the cray 2 was the most elegant machine ever created!

Re: your latest purchase

I managed to get my hands on a Tezro. It appears to be a reasonably specced machine, but I will only have enough time to take a good look at it in about the next month or so. s-l1600-27.jpg s-l1600-28.jpg s-l1600-29.jpg s-l1600-30.jpg FullSizeRender-4.jpg FullSizeRender-5.jpg FullSizeRender-6.jpg

Re: Announcement - Fuel ATX PSU adapters available for purchase

I was wondering if it was not maybe due to the fact the SGI was making use of slightly under-rated power supplies for the Fuel. Electrolytic capacitors do tend to dry out with age and do tend to fail as a result. They also tend to fail more quickly if they're positioned too close to heatsinks in poo...

Re: Announcement - Fuel ATX PSU adapters available for purchase

Why do the PSU's in fuel's seem to fail so often?

Does anybody know what aspect of the power supply is failing? Cant they be fixed?

What other SGI models have dodgy PSU's?

Nicholas.
