LGeneral (Panzer General) compiled for IRIX
This still needs testing and review of bugs/IRIX issues, so consider this a beta. It runs far better natively than trying to run Panzer General in Dosbox on an SGI. "LGeneral is a turn-based strategy engine heavily inspired by Panzer General. You play single scenarios or whole campaigns turn by...

Re: Quieting the Octane. Maintain thermal control
Oh.. regarding: On top of that.. i was unable to pull out my front after unscrewing the 6 screws.. seemed stuck on the top (bottom was able to get some play). Didnt want to pull out flat-head screw drivers and make a mess either. I ended up using various sizes of a flat head screwdriver to pry it ou...

Re: Quieting the Octane. Maintain thermal control
So I decided to replace my Octane's fans. I replaced the HDD fan with: Zalman 92mm plus fan ZM-F2 Plus (SF) Looks and sounds fine there. I replaced the front-plane CPU with the exact same product.. just one that is brand new: ShicoH ICFAN 0610-12L No difference there as expected. I did replace the P...

Re: How frequently you use your SGI (in 2017)?
jirka: It's not exactly fast but on my O2 it's way better than the native Ff3! I use Intel Computes Stick as my Linux desktop (an Atom-based thing with 1 GB of RAM). I also use an Intel Compute Stick.. I consider it a type of pseudo 'Intel Co-Processor' for my SGI Octane. (like how SUN had SUN PCI d...

Re: ipmitool for IRIX
Is the irix package built mainly for remote management of other devices over ip or can it also be used to read sensor data on SGI hardware? IPMI is only for remote managing IPMI-enabled devices regarding sensor data, remote power control, and even remote console access to where you get to see an In...

ipmitool for IRIX
I got ipmitool compiled for IRIX (mips4, gcc, nekoware installed.. esp for its use of ncurses). I did try searching to see if this was already compiled by someone but I did not find anything. There were a few obvious mods to source, but the bigger mod was replacing BSWAP_32 (non-existent on IRIX) wi...

Regarding running apps like firefox/chrome remotely to IRIX: WINDOWS: SeamlessRDP to just deliver a remote windows app that does not come with the clutter of a windows desktop-in-a-window... more natural looking with the IRIX desktop. Need to place seamlessrdp on the windows system somewhere: (note:...

Re: Quieting the Octane. Maintain thermal control
I recently purchased: Slipstream120 Scythe model SY1225SL12SH 12v, 0.53A Zalman 92mm plus fan ZM-F2 Plus (SF) and a ShicoH ICFAN 0610-12L (delivered from china I think) to replace the small/thin front fan. However, they are still in boxes. I am worried to even use them as some threads here indicated...

Vega Strike for irix
Vega Strike supposedly compiled/worked on IRIX at one point in time.
Anyone have any binaries around?

Re: Oolite, Dangerous...
Before I spend days and nights attempting a fresh compile.. does anyone have a copy of
oolite-1.65-installer-IRIX6.5.tar.gz
around that was compiled over a decade ago?
We are losing our precious IRIX software base to time!

Re: Discreet Effect
Solutions to your pitfalls would be great to hear! Success stories after fumbling around is always a good read .. and its education for all ;) I tried installing that in the past and the installer was not working out of box (on 6.5.29) so I put it on the backburner. Maybe some new SGI users may want...

mips3 snes9x (gcc)
Attached is a compiled snes9x for mips3 using GCC and nekoware's mips3 tardists. I tried to find a copy in the wild.. no luck but maybe I did not look hard enough. Works on a 150mhz R4k Indy (I'm using a sd2scsi card.. so disk IO is slower for me and its possible could cause some slowdowns.. not sur...

Re: Mips3 E-Uae
tarball of binary below...
My attempts to compile with MIPSPro did not seem to work well on my Indy. GCC, esp v3, may not be super optimized on the platform.
Depending on how far you get with performance, I can see about creating a tardist for this.
