RealPlayer8 streaming content in 2015

I could be a poor google searcher (let me know if so ;) but I am unable to find much of any streaming audio or video online anymore that works with RealPlayer 8 that we have with IRIX... other than Radio Paradise (http://www.radioparadise.com/m3u/rp_128.ram) A search does come up with Shoutcast .. b...

Re: Basilisk and Irix

Regarding .Xdefaults and applicationDepth settings.. My attempts to see an 8bit window on a 24bit X session failed. I tested with 'winterm' and 'xeyes', as well as BasiliskII. I ensured my .Xdefaults file actually worked with something... even setting every application: *geometry: +0+910 or a specif...

BasiliskII 1.0 for IRIX

Being able to run a financial package like Quicken (even if its from 1998) or Adobe Acrobat, or MS Word 6.0, Excel 5.0, Framemaker, Photoshop 4.0, etc.. on an SGI can be useful to some. BasiliskII brings Macintosh 68k apps to your SGI. I tried searching for a newer version of BasiliskII for IRIX but...

Re: Basilisk and Irix

Nothing dynamic... but you can do it statically: Basilisk will use your X11's color bit settings. To set it to 8bit, so Basilisk can run at 256 colors: /usr/lib/X11/xdm/Xservers :0 secure /usr/bin/X11/X -bs -nobitscale -c -solidroot sgilightblue -cursorFG red -cursorBG white -pseudomap 4sight To res...

Xpad compile (success)

I have been using an SGI system as a daily driver the past month (better late than never...) and I can stand slow firefox, no youtube, etc.. but I really could not stand missing a sticky post-it note app. Having 10 or more nedit windows open didnt work well for me. So, I set out to find any existing...

Re: Another Tezro high temp thread..

robespierre, I'm north of Boston myself.. I see you are in Boston too. At least we are having better weather these days than a couple months ago. So the fan going 90%+ is the fan behind the disk drives.. but it uses the NODE sensor? So the Node sensor is the culprit in what is reporting things are t...

bash-4.2# hinv -v |grep IP35prom

Re: Another Tezro high temp thread..

I'm just hopeing someone can tell me this is ok to run like this? After several hours: HD zone is hot and fan quite fast: Description State Warning RPM Current RPM -------------- ---------- ----------- ----------- FAN 0 NODE 1 Enabled 1800 2096 FAN 1 NODE 2 Enabled 1800 2122 FAN 2 NODE 3 Enabled 180...

Re: Another Tezro high temp thread..

According to SGI's Tezro hardware guide: It shows the Disk drive fan is really just for the disks? I assume the HD zone is this Disk drive fan? Yet the disks are not really that hot according to scsimon. Can I disable this fan (should I)? I have used SCSI/SCA enclosure...

Re: Another Tezro high temp thread..

Update.. Airconditioning of the room does seem to help a bit... The HD zone temp reached 55C/129F then it came down to 54C/129F. Fan running at 77%. (90% gives me a headache with its higher pitch ;) Now, id have to invest in a portable AC unit just for this system instead of running the entire house...

Re: Another Tezro high temp thread..

Thanks for the replies! I tried l1cmd env off and on several times.. the fan for the HD zone still goes crazy. (however, it sounded nicely quiet when l1cmd env off was run ;) Here are the L1 and PROM versions: (note: IRIX 6.5.30, but most likely cloned.. I could install IRIX onto another disk to see...

Re: Another Tezro high temp thread..

I did run scsimon on the two drives I have installed. They are running at 38C/100F (bottom 15k speed one) and 35C/95F (top 10k speed one). So the HD component listing in l1cmd "env" I assume may cover other components inside? There are 8gigs of ram in this unit too. Another update on Fan s...

Another Tezro high temp thread..

I know a few years ago another nekochanner posted something similar.. but there was no resolution posted. The Tezro (quad 700 v12 with DCD.. no DM3.. lots of open space inside) after running for several hours: Advisory Critical Fault Current Description State Temp Temp Temp Temp ----------------- --...

What size screw for Tezro VPro cover/shrowd?

May be a silly question, but I cannot seem to find what size (hex?) screw to use for the metal VPro cover/shrowd (trying to remove it). They look like the same as the ones holding the front bezel in but seem to be slightly bigger. So using the screwdriver I used on the front bezel screws may strip t...
