Re: A smear campaign against nekochan.net mods on reddit

I stopped talking to him after he did this. I tried to be polite and nice to him but he's clearly mentally unhinged.

We don't need this level of drama on a small forum.

Re: IRIX unable to mount share from FreeBSD w/ ZFS

I had issues trying to get IRIX to connect to the NFS mount as well. Doing a google search I read that you should make sure that you try a TCP mount first, and then the following: mount -t nfs 192.168.1.3:/exports/SGI /mnt/software Replace the placeholder ip obviously. nfs3 on IRIX is very buggy, un...

Re: Current State of Nekoware / otherware

I don't think Countzero is Carlo. He's asked about Flame (something that Carlo never did) and we should give the benefit of the doubt.

Of course, you can see his IP and I can't, but I would just be careful before we jump the gun on saying if it's him.

Re: Car Talk

My Subie is getting new tires next week. The bad part about owning a subie is that you must buy tires in sets of 4. It's annoying. I need to move from my current radio. I upgraded the radio to a single-din from a 2003 Outback but with a wired FM transmitter it doesn't want to receive radio stations ...

Re: Hot-rodding my G5 - storage performance

To answer both uunix and countzero: yes, it is designed to run Linux, and my unit will be running Linux (probably Debian ppc64le). I would be very surprised if the *BSD guys didn't come up with a port, though, given that the hardware is open stack. As far as x86 goes, it would be purely software em...

Re: libevent/tmux for IRIX

Finally got a chance to look at the code. Very good, to have gotten this far. Implementing patches to fix the charset support is probably not going to be worth it - I'm tabling this indefinitely. I'm gonna try byobu next, to see if that works well. I've got other stuff in the pipe but I'm currently ...

Re: I'm making my own form of BSD

I've got a 100 different things I'm working on right now, so I'm not able to focus on the project for the time being. It's definitely something I want to pick up again at a later date.

Re: I'm making my own form of BSD

Updates:

The project is tabled for now.

I am migrating hosts and my IRC channel is thus not the best way to reach me right now. Email or PM on nekochan is better.

Re: Octane kernel panic

You can take the drive out of that PC, get a SCSI card into a PC, and run jacktheripper on the passwd file

Re: Octane kernel panic

If it does turn out to be GFX i highly recommend a VPro upgrade, but this clearly is a CPU error.

Your CPU board should be removed, cleaned, and reseated.

I also can, in my own case, write in many styles.

I wrote an entire essay in the style of Leo Tolstoy.

Don't worry. It seems the moderators fucked him over a barrel and while he'll be back, we're free of him for now.

Re: your latest purchase

Is it an AT or ATX PSU or some sort of proprietary?

If I were you I would get a machine shop to weld those holes shut and then you can respray it with some beige paint and retrobrite the plastics - make it look like new.
