Re: HP Visualize C200 - evil non-standard DVI connector!

HP Visualize C200 - evil non-standard DVI connector!

So I picked up a PA-RISC workstation at the VCF and it looks like a pretty good deal - however, when preparing to hook it up for testing, I discovered that some evil little troll in the Proprietary Connectors Division had provided the installed video card with some kind of connector that looks exact...

Re: Vintage Computer Festival August 5 and 6

As reported, got to meet smj and japes and ran into classichasclass again. Also played a bunch of old Japanese home computer games, picked up a breadbin C64 (I have my 128D, but I've been wanting something with a 6581 again,) an HP Visualize C200, and an OpenGL reference book, and finally caught the...

Re: A curious proposal

I'm with spiroyster, C is where it's at. Every time I learn a new language, I find myself learning about all its fancy features and gradually coming to realize that it's simpler without them. In other words, the more unnecessary cruft you drop from a language, the more it comes to resemble C ;)

Re: Who can identify this serial adapter?

Yeah, that looks like some kind of breakout box for a laptop or something. Though I don't think I've seen one with Mac and PC serial ports on the same dongle before, interesting.

Re: is something going wrong with the movie industry?

The reason movie scripts suck is because they're either cobbled together by "writers" who are little more than glorified secretaries attempting to turn piles of boardroom notes from producer meetings into a functional screenplay, or they're written by somebody who might have some vague clu...

Simple: we don't drive them. They get sold to the junkyard for scrap value or sit on blocks in somebody's back pasture for a few decades until they disintegrate.
