Re: Average age

I never moved my origin 2100 deskside upstairs, too afraid that the floor will come down because of the accumulated weight. Moving it from my university was way easier, just rolling around :)

Oh, and I'm 19 years old, pulling down the average a bit. And I love userfriendly.org ;)

Re: Howto erase harddisks of origin 2K/200

How did I do it? There was one origin 2100 (8proc 250mhz, 4gb mem) and a dual origin 200 (4x 225mhz, 1gb mem) setup. I took the origin 2100 home without harddrives before my week holidays, so I already had that one home. I have a origin 200 already, so I took it's harddrive and plugged it into one o...

Howto erase harddisks of origin 2K/200

For the quick ones here: I can get a origin 2K and two 200's from my university if I erase the harddisks of them. But, I haven't got any password (I do have acces to the serial port). To make it worse, I only have a cd set of irix 6.5.2, which is too old. So, how do I get those harddisks empty? I wa...

Re: Web privacy.

If I remember correctly, Tor only makes the traffic anonymous, not unreadable when its on it's way through the Tor network or outside of that. So encryption should be used in combination. Edit: Yep it was Tor, you REALLY should use encryption with it, Especially Tor is populair to steal password fro...

Re: Re-capping electronics

The monitor hasn't been powered for weeks, so there won't be much charge in it, right?
I think the problem isn't in the high voltage power supply, but somewhere in the deflection circuit.

Re: Re-capping electronics

While we're talking about recapping/repairing electronics, I have 2 monitors, SGI gdm 20D11's, with serious pincushion problems. here I read what the possible causes could be. But, I'm not really a hero in reparing this kind of stuff, does anyone have some experience with this? Any help is welcome, ...

Re: name your SGI?

My SGI's are all girl names: Lara - Origin 200 Toika - O2 Lisa - Octane Myra - O2 Danica - Indigo2 Giana - Indy Fiona - O2 Sandra - Octane In the order of which I got them. All names end with an "a", something I like about the names. And I named my laptop Susa (yes, thats Asus reversed :) ...

Re: Cool (open source) software you would like to see ported...

I'd love to, but first I don't have mipspro, so I need gcc. Second, I'm new to compiling when it doesn't just work. My problem: it says "C compiler cannot create executables". Now, that must be somethign very simple, but I really don't know what it is, I installed the 2 development cd that...

Re: php question

Hi khalidschofield, Have a look at that . Perl compatible regular expressions are probably what you are looking for. HTH, PB Using str_replace is probably a easier en faster way to replace "_" with " ". Anyway, if I understand you correctly, you want a script that gives links to...
