Re: Looking for an Indy R4600SC CPU (030-8252-00x)

In terms of actual use, none, really. I did notice that gcc does have R4700 scheduling, which is only 4 differences from an R4600, so I've got some patches to fix that, but without an R4700, it's hard to test. :) I've found a source of 200 MHz R4700s, so I want an R4600SC card to make it... less slo...

The answer is no -- MCE does not sell SGI parts anymore.

Re: Looking for an Indy R4600SC CPU (030-8252-00x)

FYI: this is for a silly project of mine where I plan to drop a 200 MHz R4700 CPU into the 4600SC card.

Re: WTB: Octane2, Fuel or O2 - Japan

I notice decently priced SGI equipment on Yahoo! Auctions Japan pretty often.

Hi,
Do you still have any R4600SCs? Still $10? What would it cost to ship to 27606?

Thanks,
Matt

Re: 64-bit PCI to PCI-Express adapter (64-bit PCI on MB to P

I've learned that there is such a thing on the market now: http://www.startech.com/Cards-Adapters/Slot-Extension/PCI-X-to-x4-PCI-Express-Adapter-Card~PCIX1PEX4 It's a 64-bit PCI -> PCI-e x4 adapter. Unfortunately, it requires 3.3V PCI only, so it won't work with Alphas like the DP264 or DS20L. It wo...

Re: Just went mad and got a DL560 from eBay...

This 2003 box is still a mini powerhouse :) And there's part of the problem. I'm guessing that these are these CPUs, in which case, they're terrible netburst P4s built at 130 nm. They might have cost <$200 on eBay, but the reason is because of their cost to power and cool. You'd have been better of...

Re: Looking for Indy CPU module

I have indy parts up the ying yang everything except 5k cpu's who needs what I'm looking for a R4600SC. I asked if the CPU modules were socketed here (http://forums.nekochan.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16725443) but didn't get a reply. For a little project, I want to transplant an R4700 into the R4...

I don't understand. These don't seem like interesting systems at all.

Re: Gentoo/Prefix on IRIX

Given the low speed of IRIX systems, binary packages are a good idea. Gentoo supports binary packages, so this would be quite easily doable.

The disk crash I mentioned was Stuart's IRIX disk. It wasn't related to Gentoo.

But don't let that get in the way of your associations. :)

Gentoo/Prefix on IRIX

Seeing how maintenance of free software is done on IRIX/nekoware made me wonder why more people aren't using Gentoo/Prefix? Stuart Shelton did a lot of work before losing a hard disk. The Gentoo bugzilla still holds most of his work: https://bugs.gentoo.org/buglist.cgi?list_id=408731;short_desc=irix...
