Re: supposed to be available in the middle of next month ...

Irix may not, but I seem to remember that binary emulation might make it possible for linux/*bsd to run irix binaries on mips-"like" cpus. With this in mind, this precludes GL applications, and most likely any possible graphical applications, although remains a subset of applications that...

Re: supposed to be available in the middle of next month ...

Absolutely! There's also a site by a fellow called mat888 afair. I managed to stumble upon him on IRC, but alas he has heard nothing either. :( Well that's the most interesting rendering of my username I've seen yet. Anyway, the link he's talking about is http://mattst88.com/blog/2010/11/12/The_Loo...

I don't understand why you, or anyone really, care. It's SGI in name only.

Re: Firefox 10 Porting Progress

It's clear that there's no discussing this with you. You're simply crazy.

I do have to point out that Willie Mays played only 10 innings of left field in his entire career. He played center.

Re: RM700-266T

The RM7000 is dual-issue, so it may be somewhat faster than the RM5200 at 300 MHz. But, factor in the costs to install the CPU. Hardly worth it.

Re: Firefox 10 Porting Progress

(Apologies to the original poster. If this were a mailing list, I'd have changed the Subject line.) (snipped some butt-hurt trolling from your quote) What the heck were they thinking when they started depending on technologies that our beloved IRIX doesn't have?! Don't they know how many IRIX users ...

13w3 adapter

I've got a new CPU for my Indy, but I realized that I can't find my 13w3 adapter, so I suppose I need a new one. $7 on eBay seems really silly. Maybe you've got one laying around you don't want?

Re: supposed to be available in the middle of next month ...

If you look at the Lemote BBS (in Chinese) you'll see that they were planning to release these last August, and then in September, and then in October. They ran some kind of contest to give a few away but I don't think they ever did. As recently as March 1, employees of Lemote have been asking quest...

Re: Firefox 10 Porting Progress

When did firefox start depending on Xrender :-/. ... Pretty sure that was right about the same time that they stuck their heads firmly up their asses :P Ugh! I know, right?! What the heck were they thinking when they started depending on technologies that our beloved IRIX doesn't have?! Don't they ...

I'm a Gentoo/MIPS developer. We've got a guy in the #gentoo-mips irc channel who has one of these. He's done some work figuring out how to update the Gentoo installations. Join the channel on freenode if you're interested.

BTW, it seems that there was linux driver work as recently as 2010 for GLINT based cards. That was actually me. I'd be interested in it for that purpose, but I can't say I'll have time to work on it. My code is here: http://code.google.com/p/google-summer-of-code-2010-xorg/downloads/list And my pro...
