What's so appealing about Amiga machines?

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this one. They were amazing in their day and age, but there are still people out there developing dead-serious stuff for them. What am I missing here? Should I get one and find out for myself?

messiah:Studio is doing some very creative marketing.

Regular for $10 and Pro for $40. I'm in for two Pro licenses. Win, Mac and Linux/Wine. Unlimited render nodes sealed the deal for me. Good enough for Iron Maiden, good enough for me.

They're over half way to their goal.

Those are popular. I'm always buying them. After you get yours I'll buy any others, in fact.

I'll see what I've got on hand. What kind of gear are you offering in exchange?

I'd be into the MXE, Indy and the O2 if I were local. 600 miles is just too far.

Indeed. I've got a lot of O2 RAM. One of those cards would be a keeper for my Dual Celeron 366@550 retro-box.

Here's one: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=4872482492 And another one: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=6835117166 Google Translate, rough as it is, tells me the panels are new and even located in Shenzhen. The quote I received was through an agent, not the vendor. You tell these agents what y...

Need a big favor from a member in China.

I have a Dell 3008WFP display with a cracked panel. I was pointed to Taobao of China to look for the LG LM300WQ5-STA1 (not SDA1 since that's the 8bit+FRC "10bit" version) panel I need to fix it. Problem is I only know English and agents want to charge two arms and a leg for their services....

Re: recording/music studio

Well, little more than a year later, and the studio construction is coming along nicely. Got the framing all up, and caulking is mostly finished. This Xmas vacation, I'll be lining my HVAC silencers with acoustic foam that came today. Once they're in place, wall boarding can commence! The studio co...

Re: Science books of a decade?

age vs postcount... That's something I'd like to see. Adjusted for time as a member, especially. I don't think I'm going out on a limb to say membership gravitates toward the Geritol end of the spectrum as it's been a long time since UNIX only game in town. For most in their thirties and younger, UN...

Re: Too early for a bah humbug?

Where I work, you see a few techs in Santa hats and maybe a sooo original lady wearing a Santa beard after breathing conformal coat fumes all day. In terms of Xmas partying at work, we don't really do that in the normal fashion. Mostly because we aren't a cubicle farm. Before the economy tanked, the...
