it's a good idea tho to stick to the system tar for important things. otherwise you risk compatibility

well hpux has always been my "second in command" after irix. and the compilers didn't give me more or less trouble than other proprietary ones.

2 ways to extract a tgz:

Code: Select all

gzip -dv your.tgz
tar -xvf your.tar


or in one go:

gzip -dc your.tgz | tar -xvf -

from the little i could gather i think it still is part of the partner program. they just don't advertise it on the website anymore.

oh thanks but i was not looking for a seller but certain specs. that's how i noticed that it wasn't on the hpe website anymore

another way is to download the full nekochan folder, extract all tardists and then point inst or swmgr to that folder. by that it'll automatically add all dependencies

HP-UX compilers

i was looking around for some hpux compiler specifics and noticed that i couldn't find any info anywhere anymore. no trace of them anymore on the hpe website at all :roll:
i remember joining the hp partner program did give you some sort of special license. is that still the case?

entropy was the commercial version of bmrt. and yes, there was trouble with pixar.
