Re: Gone.. tired..

that is your choice of course but please don't let the silly actions of a few downgrade (pun intended) the vast majority here. there're much more nice members here than the other way around

Re: Show Off Your Home Office Setup & SGI Collection...

Just for the record, the wannabe nazi from the netherlands does not speak for me. When I see dexter1's God Certificate, then I'll listen to him. Until then, he ain't shit. now that's a bit out of line, sir! Dexter1 does not own nekochan. Also, while I may not agree with what you say, this is suppos...

Re: Desktop video capture on O2?

it depends on your disk and framerate. for a show-and-tell video a 50% framerate like 12 or 15 is enough. also use some compression.

Re: Which SGI box is your favorite and why?

usability wise that'd be the indigo2. the teal one. not that i'm a big fan of teal but simply because it can run everything from irix 4 to 6.5.22.
technology wise it'd be the first octane. no other machine has been that far ahead of the competition at its time.

Re: Putting the C8000 to good use?

It's one thing to drop support as far as updates go, but actually removing access to older builds for older systems is just obscene, especially since it's blocked from being mirrored on archive.org. true, apparently stupid moves do happen which is why it's always a good idea not to rely on others w...

Re: Putting the C8000 to good use?

well it's still by far the best maintained freeware. dropping old systems' support after some years can have a number of reasons but usually is a normal development.
for them this is serious and not a service for retro fans.

Re: IRIX 6.5.15m and upgrading

mmm I did initialize the disk using the graphical disk manager (aka there's a label)... but now I'm not sure if I did partition it for low level stuff your best bet always is the terminal. here's how you prepare a disk as system disk: # fx -x fx version 6.5, Oct 6, 2003 fx: "device-name" ...
