Re: How can Apple reclaim its dominance over PC-based workstations?

Probably. Which is why the Mac Pro has been ignored by Apple for a couple of years, at least.

Re: How can Apple reclaim its dominance over PC-based workstations?

. Also, given the lack of sales, we were probably right on this one. I think that, perhaps, solidifies my point; Apple is not moved by sales, but rather margins. If the new mac pros have lower sales, but the profit margins generate more profit, that's the lesson that Apple gets out of the exercise....

Re: Rumors of Oracle ending Solaris development

At least Fujitsu still has SPARC, and there are still SPARC things around. Fujitsu is getting out of the SPARC game, at least they're getting rid of a big chunk of their architecture people. Honestly, most of the action is moving into the cloud, or towards very distributed systems. Big iron is beco...

Re: archive.org -- SGI Software Library

SGI may not care, but that does not mean that SGI's licensors will not care. Best to tread carefully and slowly, and not "tickle the tiger's tail" or some similar phrase that came up at one point. To be fair. It's most unlikely these licensors would waste time and effort, that they don't ...

Re: IrisVision (ISA model) on eBay

I think so too. I would have bought one for sure. I remember running Win2k prof on that box. It looked great on my desk. Why did they go with the whole ARCS prom cobalt custom graphics on a custom mobo? It would have been cool if they had put in some kind of bios compatibility mode. It was a retard...

$2K for an old IBM PC keyboard? The guy either has no contact with reality or is trying to launder money.

Beanie babies are a better investment. I think the seller needs to reconnect with reality and move the decimal comma one or two spots to the left.

SDL is not supported on SGI, and neither is Mono. There's the answer to your question.
