Re: [Ebay]Yet another Mytery Tezro? (not mine)

I have three Tezro's in one of my sheds that I bought some years back that I'm going to be getting rid of in case anybody's interested. I have amassed a rather sizable collection of SGI stuff over the years that I now need to start culling down to a manageable size, and I'm stating with the heavy li...

I'll second that about San Bernardino!

Simple: we don't drive them. They get sold to the junkyard for scrap value or sit on blocks in somebody's back pasture for a few decades until they disintegrate.

Obviously you've never lived in San Bernardino. :?

Re: your latest purchase

Well, that certainly explains my 1978 Fiat 131. I really loved the car and kept it seven years but towards the end it really started to rust badly in the strangest places and I live in sunny Los Angeles! My previous 3 cars were Peugeot and there never was any problems with rust on any of them That's...

Re: how things should be shipped properly

Had a exactly the same situation happen with the first SGI 540 I bought. The Ebay seller had used a massive Compaq server box/pallet to ship the unit but when it arrived at the freight dock were I worked there was a fork hole in the box. Fortunately, this box also centered the unit in the middle of ...

Re: how things should be shipped properly

About 12 years ago I found a really nice looking Indy on Ebay, the pictures of it looked great so I placed a bid and won the unit. About a week after the auction I received the shipping box with the Indy in it and upon picking the box up and tilting it slightly when I set it down on my desk I got a ...

Another one just appeared. It started at $1K and already has a first bid. Let's see where it ends up but may go higher than the last one that sold... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Very-rare-BeBox-BeOS-computer-developer-edition-/263012865779?hash=item3d3cc9d6f3:g:nEQAAOSwlY1ZLqzK And this one's in Denmar...

Re: BeBox on eBay... get it while you can!

Wow, $1,033! I should put my dual 133MHz one up for sale.

Dual 133, my bad, I just got mine out of storage at it's only a dual 66MHz.
Anyway, I've taken pictures of it in preparation of listing it on eBay.
It will be interesting to see what it fetches.

Re: What extremely rare (non-prototype) computers do you wish you could find?

I'd like to see and try in person a working BeBox unit running BeOS (Be Inc Operating System) on a couple of PPC603 @66Mhz, and then I'd like to compare results with the @133Mhz version. Be sold around one thousand @66MHz BeBoxes and some hundreds 133@MHz BeBoxes, so I might have a chance. I do hav...

Re: how things should be shipped properly

I had this exact same thing happen with an SGI 540 back in 2005. The seller packed it incredibly well in a Compaq server pallet/box but still UPS managed to run a fork through the box missing the front panel by less than three inches. The thing that saved it was sheer random chance since the Compaq ...
