Re: Can you identify this machine?

Looks like the first SGI I owned, yeeeeaaars ago. It was, as the others mentioned, a Professional Iris 4D/70 GT. I gave it to the Bolo Computer Museum, in Lausanne, Switzerland. It was heavy, loud, slow, but I miss it a bit now...

If you can find it quickly, why not. That would be helpful to see your modification, not only for me, but also as reference.
And probably it will motivate me doing it ;)

It looks similar, but you should know it's much deeper and heavier !

Hi jmc,

Where are you located in Germany. I'm in Switzerland and may consider the trip... specially since I often go to Germany for business.

Nice work j-j ! I know it too much as well how fragile these plastics are. Not only the door's hinges but also the feet. There are 4 small hollow "tubes" that go through the metal chassis. As soon as you try lifting the O200, you take a risk. If you don't lift the O200 vertically, but tilt...

Indigo TOD clock replacment hack

Some weeks ago, I've ordered memory modules from Ian for my Indigo . Unfortunately, once I have installed them, it refused to power up again... "can't set tod clock", grrrr ! According to the wiki , the R4k100 was first introduced in 1992... 24 years, not so bad for a battery ! Read some i...

Re: [EBAY] large collection (Germany)

Wow, I'd be interested as well, specially since it's close to where my headquarter is. But then, how to bring them back home ? I'm not sure I can fit them all in my cabin luggage ;-)

Maybe I'll go there and have a look

Re: FS: 64MB/128MB RAM kits for Indy, etc.

Hi Ian,

I was looking for SIMMs for my Indigo on your website yesterday... so yes, I'm interested in
128MB RAM kit (4x 32MB identical SIMMs, gold edge): 25 UKP (Kingston PN KSG-128/R40)

and one kit of 64MB. Actually I'm missing an Indy cam, too.

PM ?

Re: Should I take the dive?

Fuels are indeed noisier than a stanard PC, but doesn't the sgi factor compensate that ? Having both a fuel and some octanes (2), I confess I use the fuel more often, due to the noise. On the other hand I prefer the dual CPU responsivity of the Octane... It is right decent fuels are not cheap, but l...

Welcome to the club ! This is definitely a nice machine that works well... when PSU or V12 do not burn.

Have fun with it !

Re: PROM Program archive

Good news j-j... I have one Indigo2 R4k4@250MHz.
If you tell me how to do, I may have a look at it and try getting the PROM image. OK, first, I should dig it up and see if it still runs fine...

Let me know if you still need it.
