What is, generally speaking, the most usuable (covering the most platforms) non-IRIX OS for ex SGI Mips boxen, OpenBSD?

Re: your latest purchase

I'm going to eventually also get a DX7. I already have an MT-32 and also plan to get a PSS-570 to circuit bend. I also like the MK-100 but that'll be an eventuality I love the DX7, also the TX816 really tickles my semitones :-) Setting all 8 programs for the same thing, then adjusting the semi-tone...

Re: Does anybody use REV disks?

I find it difficult to believe at low capacity, low volume technology (tech under discussion), will ever outpace a high capacity, high volume (modern HDD)

Re: server rack enclosure :: how to seal wires to air leakage?!?!?

The best way is to identify a simple mechanical way minimize the amount of one space that needs to be blocked. Such as bundling like-sized wires together so they can be related the same. One useful technique is to use a flat clamp system using foam of rubber to clamp around the wires. YouTube idea w...

Re: Buy now! Before it's too late!

It comes down to who is getting hired. When there is a 'req' in the system for a job, it can be used for a domestic employee of a foreign employee. The aim of this administration is to make the choice for a domestic employee a necessity of law. The whole visa thing is a side issue.

Buy now! Before it's too late!

https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2017/01/30/trumps-next-executive-order-draft-to-target-tech-companies.html Yup, it's time to make a last time tech buy. Because things are going to get a whole lot worse as the water cooler gang gets preference at the employment line. The world continues to turn on its head.

Re: your latest purchase

Do you like that snowball? I tried one years ago for some basic voiceover stuff I had to do, but there was a high pitched coil-whine-like sound in everything that came out of it, so I exchanged it for a scarlett 2i2 and dug out some old shure 57's out of my drumstuff box. It seems to work. I got it...

Re: Interesting Topic on Slash Dot

The sad thing is that the 80's were the begining of the end of interesting computers. Ther were a few last gasp multi-processors, the last series of interesting OS's, and the last of the uProcessors before Intel commmidtized the HW Industry under it. Windows/Linux made it's first attempt at subsumin...

Might you disagree - but I'm thankful it's over again. For me, X-Mas is the biggest hypocrisy of the year. How can you enjoy a roasted turkey and forget what's going on in this world? Hypocrites and psychopaths playing with bombs like kids playing with toys. No, MERRY and PEACE are totally unrelate...

Re: President Trump

Hacking away on Trump is only so much fun. The deeper issue is, how come he could be elected  as the (albeit remote) successor to Lincoln at all? He's a sick corrupt fuck who took advance of out-of-workable color white men, to convince them he would make american alll white, and bring manufacturing...

Plus he's bringing lawsuits against anyone who is endevoring against him. Does that sound like a freely elected president elect?

His twitters mark him as a brutal megalomaniac.

Re: President Trump

I would back anyone other than Trump. The Electoral college is the presidential equivalent of the Lemon Law. He lies. He makes stuff up to suit his own ends. He attacks anyone that doesn't support him. He's vulgar, rude, and arrogant. Worse yet, the Russians would gut us, and the rest of the democra...
