Re: WTB : SGI compliant female 13W3 to male VGA cable (short length OK)

I think long 13W3 cables were very common for flight simulators and such mounted on big hydraulic actuators. Maybe (probably?) but I think the more common customer was "anybody with a tall rack Onyx / Onyx2 / Onyx 3x00". Those things are *loud* and put out lots of heat so they're not suit...

Re: How can Apple reclaim its dominance over PC-based workstations?

If you want a proper workstation, look no further than the new HP Z8: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2017/09/hp-show-us-what-a-real-pc-workstation-looks-like-with-a-56-core-3tb-z8/ up to 56 cores (112 threads) up to 3TB RAM up to 3 graphics cards ... and pretty much everything else you can dream of...

Re: Dubious Tezro on ebay (certainly not mine!)

Will provide update when box lands in Australia (in one piece ... keeping fingers crossed) I sincerely hope for you they don't toss it in a box with some bubble wrap or foam peanuts. A Tezro weighs close to 30kg, which is the upper limit of what you can send by regular shipping (post office). And p...

Re: Mac Pro 2013

If you consider that most of the people who were in the market for one at the time of it's release, more than likely bought one at that time, it would make absolutely no sense for them to need to buy a new one for at least the next 3 years. The 2nd hand asking prices for 2010 era Mac Pro's are stil...

Indy badges?

Here's a question about the badges on the case of the Indy. First, here's what the original Indy (R4x00) looked like: indy-r4000.jpg The R5000 Indy looks a little different. The cube logo badge has been moved down, the "Indy" text has been moved to the left to make space for an R5000 badge...

Nice!

Otherwise, beware that by placing it on it's side you've blocked the air intake of the graphics side of that Indigo2. That's not going to end well.

Re: Dubious Tezro on ebay (certainly not mine!)

Auction has been updated with (presumably) photos of the actual system. And while Hombre linked ebay.de, it's located in the north of France and also on eBay.fr: http://www.ebay.fr/itm/Ordinateur-Vintage-SGI-Silicon-Graphics-Tezro-CMN-027-Double-Disque-Dur-/172863004983 Looks like an old Discreet sy...
