Regarding that mmap() crash that hamei was having, I had disabled the malloc routine that uses mmap, but Ton asked if I would try something different here: http://projects.blender.org/pipermail/bf-committers/2006-February/013764.html So, I've compiled a version that uses that piece of code: http://b...

I had troubles with: the GL extension manager, (guess I narrowly missed out on Hos' patch), mmap() in the guarded malloc stuff (at compile time... missing MAP_ANON macro or something) and writemovie.c (it tries to include render.h which doesn't exist any more, I just left out the whole file, it's (...

What is the problem with FFMPEG? No problem, just didn't feel like installing FFMPEG (lazy). Would this only be interesting for people with an Onyx or Tezro? Yeah, I saw a few folks in the benchmark thread talking about wanting to try on some machines with more processors. Ton is having some probs ...

Hi ka0s, I gave it a try this morning, and there were a few problems. I've fixed these and committed to CVS. I no longer have an Irix machine on my desktop so I wasn't able to test anything. Let me know if you have problems compiling. Anyways, if people want to give it a spin, it's here: http://bebo...

No, I haven't been posting my builds (I just build once every month or so to see if it'll still compiles). Regarding neko_mplayer, my main concern about the neko packages is that they tend to be created for mips4 ABI (at least the python stuff was) so I always stayed away from them (I wanted to make...

I untar'ed the sources, and tried 'make' but it immediately stops at line 36, Should be 'gmake' or you'll have probs. and i'm not sure what the problem is (MIPSPro 7.2.1 on Irix 6.5.22 BTW). 7.2.1 might have probs with the C++ stuff ... dunno, haven't tried myself. I have had success with 7.3.1.3m ...

Hi Alver, Yeah, it's not fun seeing blender or myself getting kicked around these forums, but I don't take things too seriously since I know that the abuse is coming from a loud and unconstructive minority (and based on that recent comment, perhaps a chemically unbalanced minority). Anyways, have a ...

Re: Blender

Hi Diego, I *was* the only one supporting irix, but I am retiring from that role, so there is currently nobody supporting it. It would be a trivial thing for me to create a 2.40 version of blender, but you guys aren't pulling your weight, so why should I bother? You may not have control over whether...

Hi Diego, I put up a guide a while ago about how to compile blender on irix: http://forums.nekochan.net/viewtopic.php?p=29675&highlight=#29675 Blender from CVS does currently compile on irix (the build was broken for a while in the fluid simulation code since the MipsPro C++ compiler does not li...

Hey Jimmer, The IRIX port is in real danger of being discontinued due to user apathy. I am currently the only blender developer supporting IRIX and I don't really use the platform much -- pretty much my support consists only of occasionally checking that blender still compiles under IRIX, and fixing...

Diego: Yeah, the carrot is really cool. I was fortunate to be on the splash committee this time, and that was definitely my favorite. Others: I mentioned the issue to Ton on irc and he says he does not see the problem on his OS X machine. He points to a changelog entry: - Game engine: Objects withou...
