Fuel has started to hang with LSI LSI21320-IS

Hello all Haven't played with my Fuel for a while so I thought I'd fire it up. Unfortunately, in it's downtime, it's developed an issue. Basically, when I boot the machine I get the following: IRIX Release 6.5 Copyright 1987-2006 Silicon Graphics, Inc. All Rights Reserved. Setting rbaud to 19200 NOT...

Re: LSI21320-IS (Ultra 320 controller) Test Results

Just repeated these steps on my Fuel and I now have a CD-ROM (external PlexWriter) working fine :)

Thanks Neko !!

Re: Problem with my newly arrived Fuel

Hi schleusel I'm talking about the original fans when I say that they start every now and then for a very short time not the replacements. I've only run the replacements directly from 2 spare Molex power supply connectors so they are on all the time. As I figured it 'could' be a motherboard problem ...

Re: Problem with my newly arrived Fuel

OK..one last thing :) I've managed to get the Fuel up and running by disabling the environment monitor and running a couple of 6cm XIO fans directly off the power supply via Molex connectors. When I connect the same fans to the motherboard 90% of the time they don't spin...BUT every now and then the...

Re: Problem with my newly arrived Fuel

Schleusel - yes, you're right. After investigating further it's the two XIO fans that are not working. I put a multimeter on the motherboard pinouts and get 9v off the red wire so I'm assuming the board is OK. Arti77 - Shipping from Italy cost me around AUD$500 from memory via standard post. My advi...

Re: Problem with my newly arrived Fuel

Well Fan 3 looks to be one of the two small fans that sit in the cage in front of the gfx card. Both of these are not spinning :( Now are these fans absolutely essential or is it possible to run the system without them for any time? Reason I'm asking is that I will get the fans but would like to try...

Re: Problem with my newly arrived Fuel

Thankyou for the replies everyone !! Well, I stripped her down and put everything back in..no difference :( I then saw your post Neko and hooked up to the motherboard COM port... The output from that is: 001a01 ATTN: FAN 3 warning limit reached @ 0 RPM. 001a01 ATTN: FAN 3 fault limit reached @ 0 RPM...

WTB: Casework for an SGI Fuel (Australia)

Hi

I'm after some replacement casework for an SGI Fuel that was shipped to me from Europe with 1 layer of bubble wrap...needless to say it's pretty shagged.

I'm in also in Australia but don't mind paying for shipping if it is packaged well

Thanks

Problem with my newly arrived Fuel

Hello all I've just received my SGI Fuel I won off eBay (badly damaged casework which I need...I post in the WTB: forum but I am in Australia...) and am trying to boot her up...unfortunately, she's a no-go. What happens is: 1. Turn the machine on - lightbar is red 2. After around 15 seconds, the lig...

1920x1200 on DELL 2405FPW with Octane2/V12

Hello all Hopefully the title attracted someones interest with a 2405FPW running at 1920x1200 :) Anyway, I've got a small problem in that my V12 Octane2 is running at 1920x1200 but my DELL 'sometimes' thinks it's only running at 1600x1200. I say sometimes as, around 30% of the time, the DELL does co...

Re: Questions about installing IRIX and overlays from a Linux se

Thanks porter :) I may have hit a solution though that even I can work through....I just managed to pickup a 300MHz RM5200 O2 with 2 9GB drives installed so I'm thinking of doing a straight IRIX net install using the O2 as the installation file server. Hopefully following the tutorial at http://www....

Re: Questions about installing IRIX and overlays from a Linux se

Thanks for the tip :) I downloaded FreeBSD (6.2) last night and proceeded to install. I immediately hit upon a problem whereby the 'efs' filesystem is not apparently supported in the base install and 'pkg_add efs' and 'pkg_add efs_mount' both failed with an unknown package name. Any ideas what packa...

Questions about installing IRIX and overlays from a Linux se

Hello I've just acquired an Octane2 (dual 300MHz, 1GB RAM) and am playing around trying to install IRIX over a network (no external CD-ROM). IRIX 6.5.14m is currently on the machine but I thought I'd have a go at a clean install so that, if a crisis happens, I can recover. My PC is running Ubuntu 7....
