how to edit raw .DV digital audio video captured files

Hi All, I know SGI's as of the O2 are capable of playing back raw .DV video streams as long as it's the right format. My question is how to edit these files without converting them into different files. Is Discreet Flame 9 able to deal with these? Or perhaps the very old adobe premiere? Any ideas? T...

Re: Can someone compile Grafx2 for IRIX?

Indeed the screenshot shows someone with Amiga background.
The A1000 or A500 was nicknamed Rocklobster (after the band/song of ZZtop ?) if I remember correctly
And visually it looks very much like Deluxe Paint.

Great work!

Do I have an 600Mhz or 800Mhz Fuel?

Hi All, Since I don't have much time left these days I spend little time with my SGI gear. However, recently on Nekochan I was offered an 800Mhz Fuel PIMM. I purchaced it and finally it arrived today. Actually I am typing from my Fuel right now but..... On the CPU board I see the number 030-1932-001...

Testing V12 VPRO

Hi All,

Now that I have put a V12 inside my 4GB 600Mhz Fuel I want to know some nice tools, games, applications to test it with.
What makes it really nice to play with / make use of this V12?

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,

VPRO DCD Dual Display

Hi All, Today I got a V12 for Fuel/O350/.Tezro and guess what.... it came with a DCD / Dual Display card. Now what is the real benefit for this car (except attaching two monitors to one machine) Most likely I am never going to attach for serious work two monitors to one machine. Would it be usefull ...

Re: Best current options for SGI video editing?

Hi Ian, Thanks for the advise, this is very usefull indeed. What surprises me is that you mention a Fuel being able to run Flame. I never knew Fuels are capable of running discreet software at all. Are you sure about this? Or does anyone have experiense with Fuel and Flame or discreet? Thanks in adv...

Re: Best current options for SGI video editing?

Hi Foetz, Thanks for the update. very usefull to know that also Pirana needs uncompressed pictures instead of direct mpeg/jpeg stuff. And that can be on either a Fuel or an Octane2, right? Do you or anyone has experience running Pirana on a Fuel? Reason is that I need to choose between a 'Fuel@600Mh...

Re: Best current options for SGI video editing?

Does anyone have experience, running Piraña on a Fuel/Octane for 720P or even 1080P?

Please let me know more details about disk array, cpu speed, memory, picture format (RGB, TIFF...), etcetera.

Thanks in advance,

Re: Best current options for SGI video editing?

Thanks for the Shake hints and the additional Piranha info. I still have some questions left: Perhaps the dual CPU is the missing link for me. And I assume you use it for SD footage only, not HD? And uncompressed images or also MPEG video? Best regards, Piranha is fast you say? What version, machine...

Thanks in advance

Re: eBay:16 SGI Origin 300 Servers Quad 600Mhz 1GB 73GB Complete

Hi all,

As I did not get enough concrete responses I will not step up to go for this auction, pay it, have it shipped to a Neko Relay Shipping station nearby the seller, have it stripped down and redistributed.

If you stil are interested, please go ahead.

Best regards,

Francois

Re: eBay:16 SGI Origin 300 Servers Quad 600Mhz 1GB 73GB Complete

Hi All, Let's get things worked out here. Most likely I found someone on the Nekochan forum who wants to receive this item (if we win the auction) He will be able to buy boxes, dismantle the system and ship the individual O300's to the new owners (once they have together taken care off all costs off...
